I've posted pictures of it before in another thread, but it belongs here, really.

I picked this up with about 178000 miles. The car had been sitting for around a year, last owner drove it 500 miles in the 1 1/2 years he had it.
2 owners before that, perfectly maintained.

It's a Audi 200 Quattro Avant with the 2.2l turbo 10v 5pot. From factory supposed to have 200 bhp, we'll see what's left in January, when I get it dyno'ed.

So after a full service, new timing belt, new spark plugs, new brake pads, the car was put through the NCT and failed on 4 things: tracking, wear on the propshaft hanger in the center and that the rear door couldn't be opened. I should have told the tester, that he might want to unlock it first :)

Since last thursday (yep, Dec 23rd), the car has passed it's NCT with flying colors and god the NCT tester was happy. It was the first car, where he wasn't sliding across the parking lot due to winter tyres :)

I collected my new Princess on 15th Dec and drove it up from Southampton via Nottingham (overnight stay with family) to Holyhead:

Here it is outside The Duke of York pub in Pomeroy in the Peak District:

We got it back just ahead of the heavy snow in the UK and it's not had much of a chance here to get out and about either what with the weather!

Audi 100 5S, eh ? One of my first cars after I got my license was a '77 Audi 100 Avant 5E, basically the same engine as the 200 just without the turbo and obviously, the boxy type 43 model.

I'll snap a shot of the engine bay tomorrow. The bulb in the light under the bonnet needs to be replaced :)

Type 44's have a light under the bonnet, yep, so you can even see what you're doing, when it's dark. Can't remember if the older ones had it.

Yep, that's a Type 43 (or C2 as you state). Pretty rare as 2 door. Don't think I've ever seen one.

    I had this one
    audi100-5e.jpg

And my dad used to drive them, when I was a kid, so when the Quattro came up for sale, my childhood sort of came back + that it is the perfect winter car with 4wd. It's very hard to find C2's these days, mostly because they weren't galvanised.

The one the bro had was a 4 door.Pretty light on juice due to the 1 carb to feed 5 cylinders .That pic is only for illustration purposes.I didn't even know they came in 2 door.I kinda liked that car back then, a bit quirky to suit my personality:)

Sorry I know its not the same as your car, but looking at yours just brought back the memories.

Good C2/typ 43's are indeed very hard to find.
It took me 2 years to find a good 100 and over 3 to find a 200 5T in any condition.

See, that's exactly the issue. My '77 C2 Audi 100 5E was already a rust-bucket (due to salted roads in Denmark) around '98, when I had it. I would love to have a C2 Audi 200 5T Quattro, but chances of that are slim.

The C3/Type 44 that I picked up has the advantage of being partially galvanized and was near enough to it. Only difference would be the fact, that you could lock both front and rear diff on the old quattro's, if I recall right.

That CS of yours is a beaut.

I bought one of those Audi A100's over here from an Aulwan who had it in a Shed, She told me that the Front Windows had been broken, but when I took it to a mate of mine who specialised in E/W he found that the Glass was still there , the Pasenger side needed a reconnection and the Driver side needed something done with the Motor, bought for $300 made a Grand off it

If you don't mind LHD this is for sale for £1250, which is a bargain.

This car was on the Audi Owners Club stand at the NEC classic car show a few years back and was a cracker.

A well, the issue there is, while it's a bargain, I'm set on, that it at least has to be a 200, Avant would be preferable. There's a beautiful 100% mint C2 Audi 200 5T for sale in Germany, that I sort of was looking at.

I'd say there will be a few others here, that could have interest though.

That is not as mint as the ad suggests, tread very carefully.

It was discussed on a German forum I frequent and there was mention of rust, more rust and a heavy rear impact in 1995.

If you need any help PM me.

Ok. Good to know. Well, currently the price tag is still the discussion point anyhow.

Man, just spent the whole day going thru this topic and have to say there is some serious good looking cars here.

Currently have 2 golf gtis and Irish 84 and an english 89.

Also have an Audi 100 2.3 on NI plates and a 92 Toyota Windom.

Unfortunately none are running properly (think the Audi could be to far gone).

Have owned the golf since 98 and spent a fortune on it, had it back 2 weeks and it was stolen and thrashed, haven't the money to fix it but every year I promise myself to do it over the summer, maybe this year.

The windom (or Lexus es 300) is some car and was sweet as a nut until I let a friend of mine have a spin and the bonnet came up, wings, bonnet windscreen are scrap now but I'm on the lookout for one to use as a donor, again maybe this year.

Love the forum and looking forward to reading the other threads.

Maybe even picking someone's brains now and then
