My bus, half abandoned at the side of the road

I'm doing a check point for an economy run, so I'm stuck up the hills around Drinagh in West Cork...

My new GT6 - in a lot worse condition than this photo shows though. I'm going to be looking for Dublin region restorers pretty soon :-)

Basics are it LOOKS ok (from a distance?) and if you drove it w/ends and got a bit done during the week then you've the best of both worlds ?

I'm not gone on the 'strip to the metal/shell' total resto - 'rolling fixes' are my forte - fix it,test drive, re-fix etc:)

There's a few out there for sale alright... but nothing I'd be too keen on! Nearly all of them have a few "issues", for example, no VRT paid...

Great little runners - though I did get the typical "why didn't you go for a real classic instead of a volkswagon?" comment last Sunday. (Fortunately the 924 has a boot big enough to fit a body and a spade).

Lovely looking car. Do you mind me asking what a repaint like that costs nowadays?

I was thinking the same thing

Not a lot of change from 8G, includes blasting all paint off, rebuilding bottoms of all 4 doors, and both front wings needed extensive work as did the boot. All chrome sent off for rechroming or replaced.
Finish is like glass, amazing quality. Done in Dublin by a crowd called Classic Car Dock on Townsend Street/ Lombard Street.

I'd believe it. I'm almost 20k into a Daimler at the moment and i've done all the work myself!! Chrome plating alone cost me £2500 sterling!! I don't feel so bad now.....;)

And add on about 2g for new parts, it all adds up but well worth it. Do it once do it properly.
Does anyone know of a brown leather interior for a DS for sale? Need both front door cards and one front seat.

Thanks for the links, ideally looking for old leather to match the excellent patina of the interior of the car, I know, eccentric Citroen owners and all that..;)

Just remembered Car Upholstery Co on Ushers Island - straight across the Joyce bridge from Blackhall place.2 sisters have run the business for years.
    http://www.cucupholstery.com/
They do quality covers for all the taxis - c 300 for a set . They MAY do leather to match ,but give them a try.
