Yes another IBB thread im getting sick of seeing them myself but here we go.

After 5 weeks of 10-40k dloads and 5-20K uploads, loads of packet loss and pings up in the 500 it got fixed on friday the 4th November. Only to revert back to these bad levels again yesterday. I mention this is happening to me in D15 wondering if any one else in D15 is in the same boat, or any one else on the IBB network is in the same boat, as im sure im not the only one.

Why can they get it fixed for a week? Why does it take so long for any fixes to happen at all. My contract is almost up but im hard pressed to get an alternitave BB in D15 with out getting a phone line in. I know people who can get clear wire, metro and NTL but D15 seems to be getting left behind with a lot of these guys getting only partial coverage if none at all. Heres hoping the new year will bring new alternitaves, then IBB may lose even more custom.

Thats sick man ! I'd say they are finished! dont give a sh1te, If I was you I'd get metro (€42 for 3 meg)! a few in Blanch have it and say is seems to be grand (Nelly from NRG)! dont pay those fookers the last 2 month and put it to the instllation cost for Metro!

Man, I would not have your patients!

Is he a Doctor, Boom, Boom

Yeah another IBB crap service story, why dont you cancel it ? or is there no other service near you?

I'm actually getting metro installer here at the moment, ordered monday, installed tuesday(could have had it done monday, but i was at work)

Well my contract is almost over, just a month left so im waiitng till the new year to make a move. Would be nice to have a good last 2 months of service though but I supose thats way too much to ask from IBB. Im hoping I can get Metro im not 100% sure I can yet but I shall be talking to them real soon.

Is NTL BB available in your estate/area? I'm also in D15 and recently my estate was BB activated. NTL BB is available in most of D15 afaik.

Unfortunatly NTL would need to lay new cable into our est to make the broadband possible and that means digging up on of the roads that funnels a lot of the areas traffic to the slip road for the motorway and on into the shopping centre.

The apartment the far side of the shopping centre have NTL bb and the housing est a mere 7 mins walk away but we keep getting told there is no roll out plan
or date for our housing estate.

We had gotten rid of the phone line and were pleased to think that with IBB
we could have blueface with the broadband serivce we were promised.
The connection was never relilbe or stable enough in the 1o mnths we have had it. It all went tits up when they started doing so called 2mg connections.

Well I rang them this morning for them to tell me that every thing was fine. Im in work so I cant check but he said my upload speeds were like 160kb witch is a sign that things are working well. I`ll check today when I go home for lunch.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,042 ✭✭✭spooky donkey

well after going home and checking I was getting 60k down and 15K up and some game servers were unpingable. Well I dont call that fine.

    Which mast are you on?

I'm on Ballycoolin & have been getting perfect service for the last couple of weeks. Downloaded 3.4Gb of 6 x SUSE Linux ISO's yesterday afternoon / last night, 2 at a time, 100k/sec each & uploaded a 250mb wmv file to my webserver this morning @ 200k/sec

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,042 ✭✭✭spooky donkey

Im on the Atruim witch in turn hops to ballycoolin then all over the IBB net work before reaching the Inex. I`ll post up some trace routes later on when im at home.

My service has gone back to being crap once again too. Since Monday it has started crawling again. I'm on 3 Rock. It's ridiculous.
Oh and they finally replied to one of my e-mails today, only took them 26 days. Now that's what I call customer service.

I'm on the Guinness mast and it's been pathetic since Monday also... Pings are sh!te!

And for those of us who haven't been keeping their ear out for new BB technology, what's Metro?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,995 ✭✭✭✭Cuddlesworth

On 3 rock working about 60/140kps down and 100/200 up. Funny that i wasnt using over the weekend!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,042 ✭✭✭spooky donkey

Well after another call to them today I got told that the atruim High site was due for an upgrade tomorrow and that should fix it. She made me laugh on the phone telling me that all my settings seemed right. After about 30 phone calls to them my settings would want to be right.

In answer to youre question steps metro is another product similar to IBB breeze but it uses some newer technology/protocalls its 3 meg down and 512 up for about 6 yoyo cheaper that IBB 2 meg servive. Ive heard mixed opinions on it. It has had its problems also but it is in the teething stage it may well be better than IBB and is well worth a try. But like I said its new so im sitting on the fence with regards these guys till the new year. But anything has to be better than IBB.

Thanks Spooky! ;) I'm after placing my order with Metro! If I have a Line of Sight, time will tell if it was a good move...

Cool man let me know how ya get on with Metero so.

I did notice speeds up in the 160kb range at 6am this morning but uploads still in the 20Kb region so I know I couldent ping the back end of a donkeys ass with that. When I see my uploads at the 100kb mark then I know I can rely on IBB to give me a lovely ping of about 140-150 witch is still herendous compared to a REAL broadband product but I would settle with being able to play online even with bad pings at this point.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,194 ✭✭✭Talisman

I just got the green light from BT so a decent broadband connection will be in place tonight and IBB will be told where to shove their kit tomorrow.

I don't know how you managed not go up on your roof with a baseball bat to wreck the f*ck out of your antenna...

    I am the same boat....

P*ssed off is an understatement at the moment.

Sometimes I get the feeling that IBB are limiting the amount of bandwidth.

Another week of no antivirus updates.... i think that says it all really.

Oh well role on December and the end of my contract....

Amazingly enough, i've only lost 80 out of 12,300 packets! Something has changed radically in the IBB network. I havnt' seen performance this good in about 3 months! Of course, i still can't get any faster than 1meg speeds (if i'm lucky) so thats a bit crap. Still, i can game now! After months of not being able to.

    Compare and contrast...

    BT Broadband 1Mb:

The IBB person I spoke to didn't see the problem. Funnily enough neither do I, now that I've told them to get lost. :D

Look at this! Tried an Irish Broadband Test to see what I'd get right now and this is what happened (never seen this before!):

getting a rock solid about 40kB/sec - 100kB/sec on my 2mbps connection when downloading from most sites (except heanet it seems). packetloss is gone though, which is good. I'll be downgrading to 1meg anyway, 2meg just ain't worth it, i never get the speeds.
