Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What is the point of a thread like this if you're not arsed to post your own team?

Asking people on an internet forum for their world XI is like asking FIFA. you'll just get the most popular players in one team. Here's mine based on what I've seen.

GK: Cech - Excellent every time I've seen him.

DR: Neville - Extremely underrated. Very solid defensively. Excellent crosser and sets up 5 or 6 goals a season.
DL: Zambrotta - Never seen him have a bad game. Would be up near the top of the assists charts for fullbacks.
    DC: Terry - Beast.
DC: Cannavaro - In my opinion he's better than Nesta yet Nesta makes all the World XI's.

DMC: Pirlo - Probably Milan's most important player.
    M: Gerrard - Has everything.
M: Ronaldino - Best player in the world atm.
M: Kaka - Sets up and scores tonnes of goals. Loads of skill. Never lazying around.

F: Ronaldo - Give him a chance and he'll put it away.
F: Henry - The best all round striker in the world.

    Ronaldo
    Henry

    Kaka

    Gerrard
    Ronaldinho

    Pirlo
    Zambrotta
    Cannavaro
    Terry
    Neville
    Cech

    Dida

    J. Zanetti
    Nesta
    Terry
    Maldini

    Pirlo

    Gattauso
    Xavi

    KáKá

    Ronaldinho----

    Shevchanko

IMHO that team would obliterate any in the world.

The only reason Gattauso would get imto the team would be to make up for the fact that Xavi and Pirlo are not the thoughest midfeilders in the world and to add that energy he has about him.

Plus he plays for Milan, and you don't want to have to invite too many friends!

Actually, I was going to put in Baraja but I honestly think that Gattauso is the best in the world at what he does.
And what he does, plain and simple is break up play, get his team mates going and completely 100% frustrate the other team, he is also the best in the world at getting the crowd going, ffs I've seen him spend 2 minutes before a game once on the pitch shouting at the fans to start singing.

Also with Rino you always get 100%.

Xavi and prilo would never work together in midfeild without a player like gattauso to do thier share of the defending.

I think he meant that you have a fair amount of AC Milan players in there!

Just seeing Nedved's name reminded me, I seen him play for the Czech's last night. When did he return to internationals? There seems to be a lot of players returning at the end of the qualifying campaign to play in the WC.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,294 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

He decided to return for the play offs. For me this is just a case of retired players coming out of retirement simply to play in the World Cup for one last time. I can understand it but its exactly fair on the guys that played all the games to get them to this position
