    Im currently awaiting a cd player i bought on ebay from the states,i just checked the tracking and it was held in portlaoise for two days but says it released now.

    Does the fact that it was held in customs mean i will definitly be stung for charges by the postman or is this a normal process?(It was posted thru us postal service)

    It may well be marked that way but that will be for customs to decide if they inspect it. They may decide that it is not a gift and that the value is higher than stated. They will then apply the relevant duties.

    Players just arrived by an post,postman just handed them to me - does that mean i got off or do an post send you a bill the same way fedex do?

    normally anpost will ask for the money when you get the package, if you don't pay you don't get it. SO looks like you were lucky.
