Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

we need to find a way to disable file transfer within windows messenger for exchange on our LAN, but aren't sure where to start.

according to info found on the web, it uses ports 6681-6900 for file transfer, but I'm not sure if this is just MS (web) messenger, or the exchange messenger we use, or both, but we don't have access lists on our LAN, so once data is moving around inside, everything is open, only external ports are blocked.

I was wondering if file transer via pc's is P2P or via the exchange server. maybe if it goes through the server, we could just block the ports on the server itself, but that's not going to work if it's a P2P transfer.

the problem is that there doesn't seem to be a limit on fiel sizes, so someone could theoretically tranfer a couple of gb of data and suck the life out of the LAN in the process, which is what we're trying to avoid.

even if there was an option to restrict files sizes to say 1mb or something, that would be enough to keep things tickety boo.

    anyone have any ideas?

Would have thought that setting would be on the exchange server itself similar to the ones where you specify global or per user limits for email.
