hey just got my broadband today and was wondering how do I check how fast it actually is???i tink im getting about 209kb a sec.Is that about right? BTW im on eircom 1mb package.

Remember they are guideline only ie not 100% accurate...but good enough to give a ballpark number

Your best possible test is just to download some file like:
ftp://ftp.heanet.ie/pub/fedora/linux/core/1/i386/iso/yarrow-SRPMS-disc1.iso
and see how fast it goes after letting it run for about 2 minutes.

You're not gonna find any server faster than heanet. irishisptest is known to be pretty inaccurate.

Tried this with Smartbroadband to the New York site and it looks pretty good:

Download Speed: 1933 kbps (241.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 129 kbps (16.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
