Hi folks, what's this laptop worth?
not sure what it was made.

Would like to buy it for relatives, but I see Dell are doing a laptop for €499

The case seems to be in good condition.

Here's a link to the Acer site

What would this psu be worth: OCZ GameXtreme 600W It's been used for maybe 2-3 months, not really stressed it either, found it to loud so i got a different psu to replace it.

    @ wii - 300€ max

    @ T-square - 200€ ish

    @ jozi - about 60€

  • Registered Users Posts: 759 ✭✭✭T-Square

    Thanks Anti.

Would you buy it, or go for a Dell?

I've been told the Dell *has* to be bought with a 3 year warranty,
they are that unreliable. Any truth to this?

The 3 year international warranty is about 250 euro IIRC.

There is some truth in it. My girlfriend has a dell, which she has had for just over 3 years. And only today has there been a problem. ITs just a dead dvd drive, and i can fix it. She has no warrenty on it, which is not good.

WIth any laptop it is best to have a extended warrenty, as they are not easy or cheap to fix.

Thanks Anti. Might stick it up on adverts later...

Not sure if I really want to sell my pc but college is finished so I need to get a bigger car for work and they'll probably get me a laptop. It is a fast machine and here are the specs:

    Case: Antec p180 - black
    Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-965p-DQ6
CPU: Intel Core2 Duo Extreme x6800
FAN: Zalman 9500, with floppy bay mounted fan controller
    RAM: 2GB OCZ Platinum pc6400 4-5-4-15
    PSU: Tagan Modular
OS: XP Pro Licenced, Office 2003 Pro Licenced
    HD1: Western Digital Raptor 74GB 10000rpm SATA
    HD2: SAMSUNG T133S 400GB 7200rpm
    HD3: SAMSUNG T133S 300GB 7200rpm
    Graphics: Passive Cooled Gigabyte 7600GT 256MB PCI-Express
TV Card: Sapphire Ati Theatre Pro 550 based
DVD1: Samusung 18x SATA Dvd Burner
DVD2: LG 18x IDE Dvd Burner (lightscribe)
Keyboard / Mouse: Bluetooth Logitech mx1000 and matching keyboard

All in all the box alone cost a fair bit. I am not sure if I would be able to find a cash buyer on boards because there is no way I am splitting it (not an option because starting work / holidays etc soon)

I'd take a stab at 1250, if i was buyin that is. New it would be around the 2700 mark yeah? But you could get maybe 2000 max on adverts.ie stick it on and see what happens. Also i wouldn't sell if i was you its a lovely system. Stick a gtx in it and it would be kick ass system. It's a bad idea to sell a system as recent as that depreciation is so big and even with a new lappy you'll miss it when it's gone. Reason for crappy price is ram price drop and that x6800 is bad value very few will buy it.

Hi guys I was thinking of sellng my laptop so here is the spec:

    Dell Inspiron 6400

    Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 2.0Ghz 4mb L2 Cache
    2GB 533Mhz DDR2 Memory
    120Gb 5400RPM SATA Hard Disk
    Sony DVD-/+RW DL
15.4" 1680x1050 TrueLife screen i.e really high res and glossy screen.
    256mb X1400 Ati Radeon Mobility
    SD/MS/XD/MMC Card Reader
    Firewire/Usb/ExpressCard Slot
    9 Cell 85w/hr Battery
    Dell Draft N 1500 Wireless 802.11a/b/g and Draft N
Windows XP Media Center and/or Windows Vista Home Premium <--- Dell Upgrade Disc
    V.92 56k Modem
Microsoft Works 8.5 Roxio Dvd Burning Software/ MyDVD/ PowerDVD etc All on cd
2 Year At Home Warranty I think.... definitely 2 years anyway.

Its just over 6 months old and currently at dell the 6400 can only be bought with an inferior 1440x900 res screen although it does have a 40gb bigger hard drive, personally between having 40gigs more or having a better screen I would prefer the better screen which at the moment you can't get off Dell. The screen is fantastic and once you have used the high res you never want to go back to 1024x768 ever again!!!
