With the monitor, €450 maybe... I'm assuming the processor is an Intel Q8300, and it has integrated graphics.

If you want to post the service tag number so I can check the definite specs.

    S.T. = 97Z8H4J
Didn't post definite specs due to being up the walls with college work.

you could be looking at about €1200 with the monitor, maybe 900 or so without.

brand new, your machine would cost €1600~ with the monitor, so taking into account second hand prices, and depreciation, I reckon -25% would be a reasonable depreciated price.

I'll be looking to sell on my laptop in a couple of weeks.

It is in need of some refurbishment - the wireless has stopped working (which is common in this model of laptop, I've found out after the fact) and it's having issues with not turning back on after it shuts down - you have to take the battery out for a minute and try again.

Also, I'd be removing the HDD for professional copyright and security reasons.

Honestly these issues are why I'm selling it but it'd be a fine laptop for someone who's willing to fix it.

Looking to sell an Opteron 165 soon as well as 2 x 1GB OCZ PC4000 DDR500 Platinum EB RAM.

Any ideas what I should be asking?

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,692 ✭✭✭Dublin_Gunner

Xiney - I suppose about €200-250 is realistically the most you could ask for.

    JD83
    - Not a bad spec machine (if a few years old). €300-350~ if its in good nick.

Farna - as most people these days wouldn't even have the equipment to utilise these anymore, you'd really be looking at minimum prices IMO.

Maybe €30 for the CPU, and €20 for the ram?

I can help offloading the CPU though (and maybe the ram), there was a thread about resurrecting a s939 machine for sh!ts & giggles

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055862091

Maybe contact partyatmygaff and see's if he's interested?

Podge420 - about €400 would be reasonable IMO.

    On an aside:

I note I seem to be the only person replying to this thread of late! Hopefully people generally agree with my valuations :)

I don't try to rip anyone off, but try my best to base my valuations from what you'd realistically get for the machines if selling privately. Yes, you may get some poor schmuck's to pay more for some things, but I try to be as reasonable as possible!

Thanks Dublin_Gunner for the valuations. Really appreciate it.

The value you gave for my (ex) macbook was spot on (sold it for €400). It was quite amusing watching the back and forth arguments that the price was way off, as I had already sold it at that stage.

I got a link from another boardsie for www.mac2sell.net which gave a similar valuation, so I think it was a fair price for both buyer and seller.

Phew!! Its good to know I'm in the ballpark anyway! I wouldn't generally keep exactly to mac2sell, its valuations can be fairly high (if you're realistically trying to sell it).

TiNcAn - I'd expect around the €1k mark with everything you listed.

Mister Man - probably around €400 (sell any expensive software separately, CS4 etc)

Weeder - you won't be getting anywhere near €450 back for that I'm afraid. Its really only worth about €300 at a push (with Windows) - though you haven't mentioned how much ram, and if its DDR2 or 3 (socket AM2+ or socket AM3). Could probably build something very similar for €250~ brand new.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,469 ✭✭✭weeder

3 gigs of ram, not sure what socket.

Well the cost of the ram really wouldn't add too much to my evaluation.

I'll still stick with a resale value of around €300
