Hey people, just wondering what my desktop is worth to sell.

    It's a Dell XPS 420.

Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @2.40 GHZ
    Installed Memory is 4GB @ 800MHZ
    I have a RAID configuration of 640GB @ 7200RPM
Graphics card is a GeForce 8800GT
There's a Soundblaster X-Fi XTreme Audio card inside
    DVD burner
    19 in 1 card reader
    Wireless network card

I need to sell it after buying a Macbook Pro for my college course. Bankrupted me! Anyway, I would appreciate any help you could give, thanks.

Calerbass - he's right. Thats even if you manage to sell it. More powerful machines are given away for free these days.

Cian - I'd throw maybe another 100 on the valuation. €300-350 would be reasonable enough - though does it come with a screen?

    Hi,

    Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo desktop:
    Pentium 4 3GHz
    1Gb Ram
    250 HD

    Nearly 4 years old.

It has an upgraded video card (Nvidia 1Gb) which was put in about 18 months ago for gaming.

The board is shot in it, so it's only really good for parts I suppose.

Video card is probably most valuable part of it.

Any idea of what its worth or if it's even sellable?

    Thanks

As the main board is shot, and its very outdated tech, you may be lucky to get €50 for it...

What model vid card did you install in it? If an 8800gt or so, you could sell that separately.

I'd have to check the box that the card came in (I still have that). I'm pretty sure its something like 9800 or 9600 GT. 1 gig anyway.

If its 9800GT you may get €50 for that on its own.

Only 8 weeks old and 3 year collect and return. I reckon ~2750.

Wavey, €2-2.5k would be my estimation.

Based on the fact the computer itself could be built brand new for around €2400 (that's not even looking for the cheapest components).

It being set up with water cooling installed, and the 3 year warranty helps with the value.

If it wasn't for that, I'd probably have it under €2k to be honest.

In general, once a computer is bought, you can easily knock 30% of the value as soon as you open the box.

When looking to sell (specifically high end equipment) people don;t care that you may have paid over the odds for a pre-built computer, they look at the cost/value of whats in it.

Annoying yes, but if you get any more than €2.5 for it, I'd be highly surprised.

Is there seriously only the 120GB SSD drive in it (no HDD's)?

Sorry, but with Win 7 license included, those components come to just under €1000~

It could be sold for €700 easily by my reckoning, maybe a little more depending on how much warranty is left on the components, and all in excellent condition of course.

500 for that type of system is laughable TBH - are you just looking at the video card???

your mixing up what they paid for it and what its worth

where would you sell it if it was yours? im curious to see where people are getting so much for second hand PCs

Eh no, I quite clearly told you what someone would pay for it, and gave my estimation on what its worth.

Computer equipment does not de-value by 50% as soon as you take it out of the box.

Adverts.ie for instance you'd get around what I valued it at.

I don't know where you're getting your low ball estimation from, maybe you could enlighten me?

    Any idea how much:

Dell Dimension 5000 Desktop with original Windows XP

    Dell Dimension 5000 (Tower)
    Dell Flatscreen Monitor
    Dell USB Mouse
    Dell USB Keyboard
    Dell Speakers

    1 GHz, 1 gb ram.

I know probably not alot of info to go on, but its not mine, another person asked me to find out a price for it.

I can try and get more info if needed, but could take a few days!

    Thanks in advance...:)

Dingatron, without working it out properly, I'd say around €450 or so.

Bilbo - TBH you'd be doing well to sell it. But you may get €150 with the screen

Okay, so I was told to post there here.. and also my gear is overpriced

It feels like years and years ago that I used to build my own PC. But now a few years after I built my PC, I have to sell it.

Only thing is that I need help with pricing this stuff!

Originally I priced my PC at 650 euro. Then I realised it was WAY overpriced. So now to make things even hard on myself I have to split the PC up and sell it that way.

I know this is the building forum and I'm doing the opposite.. hopefully mods wont mind! smile.gif

    Here is the hardware list:

    8800GTX - 90?
    Motherboard Gigabyte 965P-DS3P -70?
    CPU Core 2 due 2.66ghz - 70?
    RAM 2gig - 30?
    500gig harddrive - 45?
    Raptor harddrive 75gig I think - 45?
    Monitor 22inch Samung 226bw -140?
Powersupply (dont know anything about it. It runs all the above fine) - 40?
    Monitor 15inch Dell - 40?

Any ideas on pricing? confused.gif Please help me!
