Its probably not too overpriced for a new laptop/notebook, but it is a 3 year old model (hence being sold with Vista - they should give you Win 7 with it).

Saying that, I certainly wouldn't buy it. Its out dated, has weak specs, old OS etc.

It would probably be worth a good €200/250 though. If you could get them to throw in a copy of Win 7, well then it would be a better deal.

I'd personally rather throw an extra 200 quid to it and get a new model, brand new laptop.

well, i'm not buying it anyway. i've already got a laptop. just curious about whether it was overpriced after seeing it in tesco one day.
i thought there was something where if you bought vista just before the release of win7, you got a free upgrade from vista to 7. does that still apply now?

btw thanks for the pricing :)

I think that was the case alright, but not sure if it applies to this laptop - being 3 years old.

Hmm, I'd say €350 would be a fair price. Its an old CPU & GPU, its DDR-2, and a very small screen (which most buyers of this machine would probably not be interested in anyway).

An AMD Athlone eh? Well, seeing as its from the midlands.... :p

Well, lets say €100 for the screen, provided its in decent condition.

The rest of the machine is decidedly less than ordinary, but you'd get maybe €300 for it, and that would be the highest really.

I would say it might be about right - just guessing at the max you might get for each brings it in around the €400 mark - but i would guess you wouldn't get that lucky

Lu Tze - I'd put pretty much the same value on each of the components you did, apart from one.

You'd be doing well to get €80 for a Q6600 these days in fairness.

Seen them going for that on adverts - especially the G0 stepping (some of them anyway!). Though i wouldn't spend that myself when an extra 30 to 40 would prob get you a Q9550.

To attract attention, what price does it need to be published at on Adverts?

and will it put people off not having an OS (I could install a linux distro I suppose)

Advertise the machine for €400. Gives you a bit of room to manoeuvre, and will give someone the impression they're getting a better deal when you sell it to them for a bit lower ;)
