wouldn't be a bad gaming pc with a decent graphics added to it :) Especially if Windows is included for the 300

Even with this would run games on medium to high settings or full settings at 720P

MB: MSI P45 Neo2-FR LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard

    RAM: Corsair TWIN2X PC6400 DDR2 4GB KIT CL4

    OS: Windows Vista Home Premium

    CPU: Intel® Core™2 Quad Processor Q6600 (8M Cache, 2.40 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB)

    GPU: XFX Radeon™ HD 5770 1024 MB DDR5 x2 CrossFire

HDD: Western Digital Caviar 500gb SATA2

    PSU: Corsair Powersupply 650w Black

DVD: Sony NEC Optiarc DVD+RW Burner

    CASE: Cooler Master Mystique 631

I would say also about 300. Q6600 is still an OK performer, overclock it and with the 5770 Crossfire you actually have an OK gaming PC. Sell both 5770's and buy a 7850 and you'd be laughing.

I didn't see a similar thread in the laptops forum, and I'm not sure if laptops are allowed in this thread, but here goes:

    15" 1366x768
    i5 2410m 2.3ghz
    6gb ram
    gt540m
    Samsung 830 256gb SSD
    750gb 7200rpm HDD

Any guesses if I were going to trade in for something shinier?

Firstly I should say I know a lot more about desktop pc's than laptops. I am basing by prices off adverts.ie (good approximation) and I'm assuming very good physical condition.

The specs seem very good. Decent cpu, dedicated gpu, plenty of ram and hdd space. Then you have a 256gb ssd which is probably worth €140 by itself. So you should be happy with all of the specs. The issue with laptops comes down to manufacturer, age (i.e. battery life) & physical condition. If it is in top condition with regards to those points then you might be able to push for €800 - €1000. To get this you will have to work hard to prove it is worth the price you want. The things people want to know about are battery life & temperatures. Download these free programs and take screen prints for your advert:

    http://hwmblackbox.com/download (for specs/benchmarking)
    http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html (for monitoring temps)
Battery life you test manually (Time battery life: once on idle, once while playing a movie)

PS it may be worth more (depending on make/model) but from the info I have and rating it in very good condition you may be able to get around €1000. You will probably get a better price comparison from adverts.ie though. It is by far the best way to sell things these days (especially computer parts). You get to agree on a price with no time pressure and all question are asked openly for everyone on the website.

Best of luck selling your laptop.

800 would be an absurd amount. The below can be got for €500-550 brand new depending on where you look, all thats missing is the 256GB SSD.

    Intel® Core™ i7-3520M 2.9GHz (Up to 3.6GHz)
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    1TB HDD
    Blu-Ray
    GT630M 2GB Graphics
    USB 3.0

I'd say the best advice would be to sell the SSD separately to the laptop.

You may be very well correct and I may be way off but it does depend on make and model. Can you post a link to that laptop you showed the specs for? Here is one for just under €1000 with similar specs again so specs aren't everything. Brand has a lot to do with it and I don't mean just for show.

    http://www.dabs.ie/products/asus-n56vj-s4031h-core-i5-3210-8gb-750gb-gt635m-win8-8DLS.html?refs=54590000-54950000-485850000&src=3

It really does depend on the make model. I will agree my price was a bit high but it isn't a million miles away depending on make and model. There are some very high prices on adverts but they do seem to be getting them so you never know. Have a look there and see what the going rate is for what you have. That is my advice.

    A 15" screen with a 1366x768 resolution probably isn't high-end.

    ASUS ROG Phoebus sound card
    ASUS BW-12B1LT optical drive

It will be very hard to sell that pc second hand because its worth a good few euro . The only way I can see that selling is parting it out . So I would say keep it because you will be without a pc for a few weeks if you sell components individually .

I have a perfectly working Dell Dimension 4400 with XP Pro. Fine for general Internet use so I don't want to dump it. What would be a reasonable price for it? 1gb RAM and a 250GB HDD

I would be included to put the parts you want to change as swap deals on adverts with cash from you or cash for the person that wants your components .

I'd of went for something exactly like what you got right now there a few weeks ago before I forked out and built a new system, sickened.

Would you consider selling the GPU on it's own?

I'm not playing many games at the moment and my gaming rig is very big so I'm thinking of getting rid of it, depending on how much I'd get for it, any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Primary HDD 256GB SSD
    Other drives - 4 x 3TB drive and 1 x 1.5
    Video - Dual nVidia GTX680
    RAM - 12GB
    Processor - i7 CPU 930 @ 2.80GHz
Case - Alienware Area 51 Venting case.
Primary Optical Drive - Blu Ray Read/DVD RW
Other Opticals - Multi-Card Reader & DVD RW
    Keyboard & Mouse - Logitech G19 & G9

I've built a lot of this system myself by buying bits and pieces here and there, it really isn't used much, maybe gaming (CoD or BF3) once or twice a month, I was going to use it as a file server (hence the amount of storage) but it's way too noisey to leave turned on.
