    14" Screen,

    500GB hard drive,

    4 GB RAM,

Integrated full HD camera with microphone,

But getting idiotic offers of €250/€300. Can get a fully licensed copy of office pro plus 2013 worth $999 put on it for €25 euros but wondering if it's worth it. If i put office on i would be bumping price to €800

Most people won't care what software is put on it, so it won't make a difference to your price. A laptop with that kind of specs is cheaper than the price you have up when new, so you're way out and that's why people are offering you 250-300. If it's in perfect condition, you might get 400-450 on a good day.

Office Pro plus is 539 euro atm, mate. It won't make much of a difference to total selling price. Most people don't care.
Unfortunately computer values depreciate quickly, you won't 600 for that comp.

    XPS M1530
    Processor: intel core 2 duo t8100 @ 2.1GHz

    OS: Windows 8 pro
    NVIDIA Geforce 8600 gt, 1280 x 800 61 hz.

    XPS 730 H2C case
    QX9650 @ 3Ghz
p7n2 diamond (ATX form factor) mobo
    4GB DDR3 @ 1333
    CNPS Zalman 9900NT cooler
    nVidia 9800 GX2 in quad-sli
    Sound blaster extreme music
    120GB HDD
    1000W PSU

It's a descent machine, would run anything and any game. Would require an SSD upgrade ofc. I've plugged in GTX 670 at one point and it ran all the newest games without any problem at all on 1080p 60fps vsync.
The CPU is unlocked and can go 3.66Ghz stable on this cooler with multiplier and voltage bump alone.
What do you think machine like this is worth atm?

I would think somewhere in the region of €350 - €400. The CPU is by far the best component.

I doubt you'd get that or even close, unless an idiot bought it. Still an OK comp though, if you added a better video card you'd be fine for another year or two of high quality gaming at least - The GX2 would be majorly bottlenecking even that Q9650 @ 3ghz. But it's dead platform at that price, for 400 new you could build a far more viable system that'd outlast it twice over.

    You're joking, right?

You really want 170 yoyos for a 4 year old single core Celeron 900 laptop (CPUMark 695)?

HN is selling a brandnew Fujitsu laptop with a dual core Sandy Bridge Celeron (CPUMark 1822) for €259.

I think the best way to get rid of these laptops is to stick them on Ebay (UK) but with a very low starting price and no reserve. Always surprises me how much people are willing to pay for second hand stuff. Factor in the cost of postage and you can still do well out of it.

Maybe so, but not the topic of this thread. ;)

Not worth more than 100 yoyos, if that.

More like 250. OS X has advanced a lot since Leopard and most apps require an Intel Mac to run.

Such computers sell for €40-50 on adverts.

Sell the monitor separately, you'll get maybe €100.

€50 is about right, there's one with a slightly slower processor than yours with a screen selling on Adverts right now for €80 and another with just the tower for €35. Pentium 4 PC's have not aged well unfortunately, in terms of their usefulness, and thats reflected in the values.

I'd say €50 for tower and €15 for the external drive.

Fraid not, a Pentium 4, 1 GGB RAM is worth SFA, no matter what it "feels like". Just to give you an idea... Pentium 4, 2.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM, €40, Pentium 4 2.8 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 17" Monitor €50, Dual Core Pentium E2160, 2GB RAM, €50. And you'll get a brandnew 24" IPS monitor for ~€150.

Thinking of moving to 1440P, how much roughly would I get for my current screen do people reckon ? Its a Dell 2311HM. I was thinking €130 but not sure if I'm being a little optimistic. Have the box and original cables etc, screen is in perfect condition.

It's possible to get Core 2 machines, which are twice as fast as your P4, with 2GB of ram for 80-ish euro these days, so about 50's as much as I'd expect to get.
