Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    A64 3700+ Clawhammer ( Socket 754 ) 2.4GHz CPU
    Abit KV8 PRO Motherboard.
    Zalman CNPS7000B ALCU Heatsink/Fan
    1GB RAM ( 2 x 512GB DDR500/PC4200 ) AData Vitesta
6800GT. Galaxy Glacier AGP clocked from factory at 370/1000 with NV silencer as stock
    Firewire card.
    802.11g card.

These are all components I'm thinking of getting rid of. I have a spare generic white case, a DVD Burner. usb keyboard and mouse and possibly a harddrive to make it a full system. No monitor of course.

I'd love to know what this lot is worth. I'm thinking of selling it to finance a new gaming rig :)

    Estimate to sell computer...
I'm leaving Ireland shortly, and I want to sell my very decent machine. Specific details are below, but basically

    2 gigahertz AMD 64 bit 3000+
1500 MB Ram (ddr 400 mhz)
    Geforce 6800 Ultra 256 MB
    1 60 gig HD
    1 180 gig HD
1 (maybe) 79 gig raptor HD
    500 Watt PSU

Now, I am willing to one, leave my 200 gig hard drive intact, meaning all of my music, videos, movies, tv shows, programs, (legal and illegal alike) will be kept, you don't know specificly what you're getting (THAT would be illegal) and I would install windows and almost any other software requested. It's a great gaming machine, I run CSS on 1200x1600 and get 60-70 fps (medium settings)

Would I be able to get more than 1000?
    more?

    thanks.

this is correct, with current prices there is no way you'd get 1000 for this

Why? It has 1500 mb of RAM, runs the newest games very well at high resolution, would come loaded full of my music movies and games, 2 gigahertz, geforce 6800 ultra. I poured like 2000 into this thing.....(dollars that is)

because it's a computer. it's second hand and it's old.

As soon as you buy it, it loses a heap of value.

    Hello :)

I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 laptop which is about 2 years old and has an overheating problem which I haven't the knowledge or really the inclination to try and solve. Buying a new laptop, was just gonna stuff this one away in a cupboard somewhere, wondering if it's worth trying to sell for parts or anything?

Any advice is most welcome, muchos gracias!

i took apart a dell 5160 last night on the hunt for a heating problem and found tuns of dust/fluff clogging an opening between the fan and cpu also the output air vent was clogged cuasing the fan to spin @ max const. Oh and on a side the CPU was fused to the heatsink the gel was all crusty had to pry it off with a knife

BTW: once all the fluff was removed it now operates as new :D fan only comes on when cpu is busy.

    Hi Gline,
I don't know much about it to be honest, only that it has 512mb of RAM, a 20gb HD, intel pentium 4 2.66ghz, em... :o

optiplexgx270: thanks for the tip :) a friend of mine took it apart before though to clean the fan and we got rid of the dust and it just went back to normal overheating mode soon afterwards. it seems to be a general problem with inspiron 5100s from what ive read online.

    Thats a wierd setup...why would you waste a 7800 on a 2600+?

I'd say its worth about 600, or half that without the gfx card...

That your own, or somebody elses? I've been keeping an eye out for possible solutions for a second tower, getting pretty annoyed when I go for a game of BF2 to find my sister playing the Sims 2...:D

Tis my old rig Dave, It has a 1.2ghz Duron atm but I think I've found someone willing to sell me a 2200+. Once I get the proc ill throw on a few games and see how it goes. See if theres any room for a bit of overclockage aswell :D
