I'm thinking of buying this from a friend. I'm offering him 80 and he wants 150. Which of us is nearer the mark?

    Dell Inspiron 1545-0635
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1
    Intel Pentium T4300
Memory Type DDR2 Size 3072 MBytes
    250GB HDD

Not even worth 50 euro. I wouldn't bother buy it. Your friend is way off. Would get a pc three times as powerfull for 150.

80 is quite a generous offer for that spec, to be honest. It's about the average asking price on places like Ebay and Adverts, sometimes sell for as low as €50-60.

Your friend could cherry pick a listing or two to say "Look! It does go for €150" but that would be just that - cherry picking. €80 is a good offer, if I was selling it I'd be delighted with an offer like that.

Newer and much faster (although still old) 1st generation i5 laptops sell for around €100.

Thanks for that lads. I showed him this and we settled on 60 inc a wireless mouse. He has it since new and has only used it for the internet and storing photos. I only want it for something similar so don't need anything more powerful.

I've been using an old XP spec Compaq with 1gig RAM, running windows 7. It's slowed to a standstill the last few months and wont play YouTube without lagging. I've been using this Dell for 2 days now and it's blistering fast in comparison. Also the screen resolution is far better.

I am looking for a motherboard bundle to upgrade.
Someone's selling A88XM-E motherboard with A10 7850K CPU second hand for 150 euro
They say its a year old

    Is that a good price?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

    No, not 2nd hand.

You can buy an entire 2nd gen i5 PC for that price on Ebay that would be 3x faster.

The A10 is closer to/behind an Intel Pentium performance wise. It's a crap processor for anything other than casual desktop use but if you go on Ebay, you'll find entire A10 based machines for less than that asking price.

Don't think they're stocked new anywhere anymore but to buy both brand new a while back would even have been less than €150.

I'd say the bundle is worth about €50-80 at best. I saw an A10-6700 for sale the other day for €30, for example.

Any help with above build guys?

I'd put it up for about €700 and take anything close to €550. That might be a bit optimistic

I would say you should be able to easily get 600-650 for it if you advertise it right.

Any tips on advertising right? I was hoping for about 600 for it as it's only a year old and I didn't skimp on the parts.

I want to sell the following and taken for granted they all work and they all do.
    Intel i5 4590.
    16g DDR3 G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 2133mhz x4 x4g sticks.
    Sapphire Radeon TRI-X R9 290 4G.
    Gigabyte Z97P-D3 Motherboard.
Would i need all this in a machine running or would someone take as face value?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

You should get decent enough prices as parts. The R9 290 can get you €200 now due to the mining craze currently ongoing - I had no problem selling one the same day I advertised it for €170 recently, few months before I couldn't get rid of it at €140.

I have a Gigabyte GTX 760 2gb windforce edition (The one with 3 fans) for sale as Ive recently upgraded. Was wondering how much it should go for? I know its an out dated card but I had no issues playing games such as WoW, LoL even battlefield 3 on max and even 4 on med / high at 1080p.

About €70-80 I would imagine. It's about the same as a GTX1050 which goes for €120 new and uses far less power/more features.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,935 ✭✭✭Tazzimus

Cobbled together a PC with old parts I had lying around and just wondering a rough price on it so I can get rid of them and get something else that'll take up the space:

    Asus M4A88TD-V
AMD Athlon II X4 or X6 (have both)
    Corsair Vengeance 4GB 1600Mhz
    MSI GeForce GTX670 2GB
    Hitachi Deskstar 500GB 7200rpm x2
    Cooler Master B500 V2 PSU
    Philips 236v monitors x2
    Antec DF-30 case
    or
    Aerocool Predator X3 case

I have a copy of Windows 8 I'll pop on it as well that can be upgraded to 10

I would probably sell without the SSD and with 8GB of ram instead of 16GB. You won't get the value back by including them because the CPU is low-end. I'd say without the SSD and just 8GB of ram, about €150-200.
    Intel Core i5-3570k - 80

    ASRock Z77 Extreme4 - 60

    Sapphire Radeon HD 7970 OC with Boost 3GB DDR5 - 100

    16gb of Corsair Dominator ram - 60

Should be able get the above, ballpark give or take, for them as parts.

    How old?

If it's older than 4 or 5 years it's probably not worth a company's time, selling yourself is probably the only option.

Newer, not too sure of anywhere but you might have some luck.

Cex take hard drives, GPUs, CPUs and RAM regardless if you want a quick buck
