    On the same as Dublin AP (-1.3C), Casement -3C iirc, how does that compare to records also?

    Casement recorded -4.1C 16/10/93 and -3.6C in 1983.
    Generally Oct 1993 was 2-3C below the 51-80 mean countrywide. A very notable month.
    This month will probably be coolest in east since 93 but only coolest in west since 2004.

    Its surprising how cold it can get in Oct considering how few air frosts there are in Sept.
    Last year and before that 95 and 93.

    November on the other hand rarely sees temps below -7C

    Just thought I'd add that -18.0ºC was recorded at Castlederg, County Tyrone on Sunday night/Monday morning (19/20 December) - a new record-low for Northern Ireland (the old record was -17.5ºC, recorded on 1 January 1979).

    Also -17.2c in Foxford, Mayo. A new Republic of Ireland December record.
