Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    From RTE.ie
Viewing Figures For Cork City/Derry City Game
While nearly 8,000 spectators crammed in to Turners Cross last Friday night to watch the eircom League showdown between Cork City and Derry City a further 355,000 tuned in to RTE's coverage of the League finale. Figures released today for the RTÉ 2 coverage of the game show a rating for the viewing peaking at 9.3 while the share peaked at 23.8 translating to 355,000 viewers at peak time.

Both John Delaney, Chief Executive Officer of the FAI and Paddy McCaul, Chairman of the eircom League expressed delight at the figures with Delaney adding, "these viewing figures show the tremendous interest which exists in the eircom League. The television deal which brought 40 games to our screens this season was a huge success and demonstrates the great potential of the eircom League".

The 355,000 audience exceeded the Ireland v Australia rugby international (279,000) and The Premiership (230,000) last weekend.

Those are amazing figures, especially considering there was a full house at the ground as well.

Hopefully eL clubs will be able to command more money from sponsors, and indeed, RTE for future televised games.

Finally a bit of progress is being made with the eircom league. Excellent to see it!

They are excellent figures all right and maybe it will make RTE consider showing more games live next season. It shows that there is interest out there but sadly I think the numbers were only that high because of the uniqueness (if thats a word) of the match. I would love to know the average viewing figures for all the games shown live this season

Were there really 40 games shown this season??

Great figures alright, I had it on about 4 seperate TV's around the house though so that goes some of the way to explaining it!

They are excellent figures but 317,000 watched Shels v Deportivo while Man Utd were pulling in over 200,000 viewers at the same time. The figures will be a lot lower for the not so important EL games. Good advert for the league though.

Very nice... considering there was no Dublin team involved you might expect the ratings to be a bit lower.

    Very good figures I suppose.

And I didnt see one ad for the game either.

Hopefully the highlights show will get a HUGE revamp next year and that will be better than having more live games.

long may it continue, wonder how many will watch dublin city verses shams on setanta.

People are just getting sick of too much premiership these days.
