    Hi everyone,

    first post here.

I've read some of the stickies but would like to post a few questions too.

    I'd like to buy a Lexus IS200.
    I can buy it http://www.cbg.ie/Car_detail.asp?CBGID=&ID=618034&NumPics=3&Make=Lexus&Model=IS%20-%20200%20Auto&frmFilter=# for €26,000
or from England, here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4591328530&indexURL=7& for about €10K plus €6K (VRT)

Does that make sense? From the sticky, it says it only makes sense to import a car from England if it the cars value is in the 15s to 20K range.

What am I missing? apart from about 1000 euro for costs, RAC, HPI, and flights and ferry back.

Sorry if this has been asked before, I just wanted to post it (having read the previous posts)

A guy I know who does this as a part time job, tell's me I should buy a 316 instead, easy to sell in 12 months, apparently. But that's an altogether different issue.

I don’t think you’re really comparing like with like, the Irish model you list is 2002 and the model on ebay is 2000, heres an example of an Irish model with similar milage to the one on ebay for €16950,

I would say your better off checking out autotrader.co.uk for more examples of the car for sale, ebay wouldn’t really have that many to compare.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk is the place to look.

Never understood his 15 to 20k comment - I see loads of bargains in the UK in all price ranges - the cars there seem in much better condition as well and have loads of extras in many cases.

I suppose the 15k to 20k is the range where the biggest gains are to be made. However there's no question the cars are much better loaded in the UK than here and usually in better nick too.

i think he just states that for decent savings you need to be spending in that price range. But i disagree. If you're saving anyhting its worth it, after you take in all the costs that is.

also autotrader is best place to look.
