quick question, where do i pick this up on the cheap. There seem to be mass difference in the price in different shops from what i read here.

cheap = cheaper than others. What price is this supposed to be these days ?

    thanks

I got it about a month ago from eBay for €20. I couldn't find it for cheaper than ~€30 online - shops like GAME are still looking for over €40 for it. It looks like you won't be able to get the non-GOTY edition, which I didn't want because I've already HL1 etc. Cheapest I saw that was €45 in Xtravision.

You could buy it off steam.

You can borrow my copy? (as in, borrow for a few months until you're done with it.)

I got it for free from [not Valve or Steam, the other developer who worked on the game. Can't remember their name.]

Can meet you in Dublin City Centre.

as for buying it from steam ? i take it i can download the full game ? SIZE?

You can buy and download the whole game on Steam, quite big though.

I think the original version has been phased out, it's the GOTY edition now. I'm pretty sure I've seen that in Game, Play.com have it anyway.

I could have sworn that I saw HL2 in Game in The Square in Tallaght for €30. Ring them up and confirm.

    gamespot didnt have it

    Smyths
-Couldnt find it on shelves asked counter
"we have the cd but not the case"
me = can u not sell it anyway ?
    "no sorry, need case"
me = went back to shelves got BF2
"sorry, we dont have the cd inside"
me = wtf went back to sheleves for a last look and dug out hl2 cover - yay
    "50 euros please"
me = on way out opens box, no manual [where MA fckin cd key]
"sorry dont have manual inside(stock room)"
me = gimme my money back u ponce

worst experience ever, they should hire people that atleast have a general knowledge of how games work.

    few Q:
-Does HL2 come with manual or cd key stored in game ? [doubt its in game]
-Is a valid cd key required for BF2 -online?

    thanks.

HL2 will have a cd key printed on a sticker somewhere inside the box/manual, can't say wherabouts for sure though, seeing as i got the American version in the stupid cardboard box...
you'll only need this cd key the first time you install the game, it will associated with your steam account details after that.
and BF2 will require a valid cd key for online play
