To help combat thread spoiling via (often valid) comments, we should create a specifc Forum in FS where non sale specific comments are put.

So a scenario like this may be avoided.

    Process:

-Mod decides that thread has gone off the topic of the sale, and has gone into opinions/better prices etc
-Mod splits thread and moves non sale specifc comments to FS Comments.
-Mod edits the original thread in FS to with a link to the new comments thread.
-Mod instructs all further non sale specifc discussion to be directed to the new comments thread.

What constitutes non sale specific sale discussion is open to interpretation by the different mods however, so some kind of guidelines would have to be hammered out.

Its not perfect, but it might double as a Feedback forum for FS.

    What yiz reckon?

Sounds like an immense amount of work for the FS mods.
If giving opinions and allowing "X is cheaper here" comments is allowed then mods will keep having to return to all threads to split the non sale specific bits away.

Maybe - but maybe not. Personally I would find it easier to moderate a thread if comments were kept seperate from the sale.

Well they are really not allowed at the moment, but its a vague rule and can be harsh to take action because it may be a very valid comment. This way the comment remains but is kept seperate from the sale.

Mods will save themselves hassle of returning to constantly split thread if people are "advised" that furthur comments are to be made on the linked to comments thread, otherwise the users posts will be deleated, furthur to banning if required. Its a departure from the current system, and might cause aggro for a while, but once running for a while users I'm sure would get used to it.

Would it not be easier to just make a rule stating "You can only post in FS if you are selling something or are interested in buying something" its pretty simple really ban people who make comments in FS threads ;)

Er... have a gander at the charter... it's there plain and simple (well, in the Comp hardware forum anyway)

People just plain don't listen (or read... whatever the internet equivelent is)
