Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    RIP. Greatest MUFC player ever.

He sure did live life to the max. I remember reading a story where he was in a hotel room. With 2 miss world models on the bed along with a £50K (also on the bed). Room service knocked on the door and the porter said to George "Jesus, where did it all go wrong George".

Its sad to see him go...

but the news coverage on it has been stupid, they squeezed as much out of it as possible

If I was in charge of the news it woulda been

Geaorge Best is Badly Sick... on one day... and then leave it
but noooo.... we have to have up to the minute accounts on how many degrees he can turn his head each morning.

    :D

I wouldn't feel too sorry for him, I think he packed quite a lot into his years, as this story illustrates.

    Shame nonetheless, RIP Georgie Boy.

Spare a thought for his family, this is a hard enough time for them without media reporters hounding them.

Yeah, they're gathering outside the hospital. Respect isnt somethign you can often associate with the press unfortunately.

This is so sad. The poor guy made a mess of his life. A poor Northern Ireland boy grows up to have extraordinary fame and wealth, i feel sorry for him.

Yeah thing I found strange was they stopped music and everything on BBC Radio 1 to announce it! they never do that unless Royalty or major event 9/11!!! shows how much the UK people respect him!!

    Some quotes:

"He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right".
George Bests assessment of David Beckham

"I was in for 10 hours and had 40 pints - beating my previous record by 20 minutes".
    George Best
    About his liver transplant

"In 1969 I gave up women and alcohol and it was the worst 20 minutes of my life".

"I blew hundreds of thousands of pounds on women and drinking - the rest I just squandered".

"Pele called me the greatest footballer in the world. That is the ultimate salute to my life".

The last one is most fitting, but the others just show his extreme life which ultimately ended it for him.

    Who cares.

Whoever sold him that liver should be sent to jail.

"Sorry little girl, you'll have to wait for another liver- we've just sold it to some old man who quit football so he could become a mad raging alcoholic."

I would have felt sorry for him if he had died before the last transplant though.

Ignoramous. You're lucky enough not to understand alcoholism.

    RIP Best. What a legend.

    Couldn't care less!!

Don't like to see anyone die, but he got a 2nd chance of life after making a pigs ear of it 1st time round.

Someone who probably died 3 years ago, could have got a 2nd chance that they would've cherished, but instead the chance was given to that waster.

Who cares that he had a talent for kicking a stupid football.

    Condolences to his family though

Why offer condolences if you couldn't care less? Why not go an start a thank god Best died, what a waster thread.

The man had an illness, it's sad he died, he was his own undoing, but he was a legend and brought happiness to millions of people.

    RIP.
