Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back a page or two to re-sync the thread and this will then show latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

lack of decent phones

    my phone died the other day, wandered into carphone warehouse and was disappointed by the lack of decent mobiles, they all look pants, the w800 is the only one that seems anyway decent but at that price i'll be using the retro 3200 til it drops or something decent pops up, and its nearly xmas and all..

    Yup, agree with you. I'm a phone freak yet I'm always so disappointed by the boring, middle of the road selection of phones we have in this country.

    Not sure what the solution is. Buy online?

    Yeah, they only seem to sell standard phones in this country. Having said that, I just got the Nokia 6101 on Meteor Billpay and I'm really pleased with it. Nice quality, standard phone.

    I was interested in changing to 3, but the range of phones they had was pants. I wanted a Nokia and at the time, they only had one available.

    I dont really like the K750i anymore.Well i did AYEAR AGO! Ireland is rubbish for releasing mobiles but since 3 SMART and Meteor (Eircom) next year we should have a good selection.I mean the K750i doesnt have 3G and thats the 'in' thing at the moment.

    I mean The N70 has been out a few months and we havnt even got it yet.O wait this month? yeah right!And as for the 903 on Vodafone i wouldnt put your hopes up!!

    its been out about a year in England and its coming out in the summer here

    Most mobile manufacturers seem to specialise in making bricks loaded with "features" like 3G, Mp3 players etc etc etc instead of making nice, well designed phones, with a useable UI and 2 weeks battery.

    In case I sound like a luddite, I think 3G is great for data (I have a card for such in my laptop now), and I love MP3 players (I use my iPaq mostly, but also have a Creative Nomad). But I dont want them in a phone. I use a (really cheap and old) Sendo s330 mobile phone because it does what it is supposed to (unlike a line of Siemens, Motorola and SE phones I have gone through before and AFTER buying it). It is an ugly phone, but it has a good UI and a 10-14 day battery life.
