Anyone see this (on after Top Gear) Excellent programme, last weeks was about the world land speed record, this week was about supersonic flight and the air speed record.

It is strange to think how the world has changed since the achievements of the Jet Age and Space Race. From the 40s to the 60s there were the Bell rocket planes, Concorde, men in space, the Apollo landings, a frenzy of land speed record breaking. Even in the 1980s there was the space shuttle, turbos in F1 and the group B rally cars.

Nowadays look what we have. The Toyota Prius and the Airbus A380 :( At least there's some excitement about the Bugatti Veyron :)
