    Phil Kay (no, not Peter).
    Funniest comedian I've ever seen.

Jack Dee, Jasper Carrott, Ross Noble, Bill Bailey all get a good look in too...

    Personally i think he's a twat.(bishop )
ive recently heard that he's allegedly been living here for some years (i.e since he was about 12?)which kinda makes the whole "FITTING IN" thing seem a bit hollow.I'd rather go and see "hows yer tits & vagina?" by brendan ocarroll.
jimmy carr is very good but underrated ( probably cos of his media whore activities - he'd appear in a line up uf rapists if the price was right)

For my money in all seriousness its gotta be harry hill.

Most of those mentioned are great acts, Billy Connolly always makes me laugh.
I thought the comedian warming up the crowd before Rip Off Republic (in the Helix) was excellent. He was on that weird Irish football show on TV3 recently, he was giving betting tips, I think his name is Brendan something...
    (not O'Carroll or Grace)

    Rodney Dangerfield RIP

What do I get? No respect!

My favourites would have to be Bill Bailey, Billy Connolly, Eddie Izzard, and Dylan Moran (not necessarily in that order).

Dara O'Briain is good live too - he was bloody brilliant on Jack Dee's "Live at the Apollo" show. Paul Merton is also regularly hilarious - only really on "Have I Got News for You" though.

Ardal O'Hanlon is very good but he doesn't come up with fresh material often enough.
My personal faves are Dylan Moran, Tommy Cooper and Marcus Brigstock.

    Ronnie Barker R.I.P.
This was originally shown on BBC TV, back in the seventies.
Ronnie Barker could say all this without a snigger (though god knows how
many takes) The irony is that the BBC received not one complaint. Must
have been the speed of delivery was too much for the whining herds. Try
    getting through it without converting the spoonerisms as you read;

This is the story of Rindercella and her sugly isters.

Rindercella and her sugly isters lived in a marge lansion.

Rindercella worked very hard frubbing sloors, emptying poss pits, and
    shivelling shot.

At the end of the day, she was knucking fackered.

The sugly isters were right bugly astards. One was called Mary Hinge,
and the other was called Betty Swallocks; they were really forrible
huckers; they had fetty sweet and fetty swannies.
The sugly isters had tickets to go to the ball, but the cotton runts
    would not let Rindercella go.

Suddenly there was a bucking fang, and her gairy fodmother appeared.
Her name was Shairy Hithole and she was a light rucking fesbian.
She turned a pumpkin and six mite wice into a hucking cuge farriage with
six dandy ronkeys who had buge hollocks and dig bicks

The gairy fodmother told Rindercella to be back by dimnlight otherwise,
there would be a cucking falamity.

At the ball, Rindercella was dancing with the prandsome hince when
    suddenly the clock struck twelve.
"Mist all chucking frighty!!!" said Rindercella, and she ran out
tripping barse over ollocks, so dropping her slass glipper.

The very next day the prandsome hince knocked on Rindercella's door and
the sugly isters let him in.
Suddenly, Betty Swallocks lifted her leg and let off a fig bart. "Who's
fust jarted??" asked the prandsome hince.
"Blame that fugly ucker over there!!" said Mary Hinge.
When the stinking brown cloud had lifted, he tried the slass glipper on
both the sugly isters without success and their feet stucking funk.
Betty Swallocks was ducking fisgusted and gave the prandsome hince a
    knack in the kickers.
This was not difficult as he had bucking fuge halls and a hig bard on.

He tried the slass glipper on Rindercella and it fitted pucking
    ferfectly.

Rindercella and the prandsome hince were married. The pransome hince
lived his life in lucking fuxury, and Rindercella lived hers with a
    follen swanny. :D:D:D

dylan moran is def my fav irish comedian, overall id say dave chappelle has to be the number1, for what its worth is the funniest standup ever

  • Registered Users Posts: 786 ✭✭✭aw

Dylan Moran, Rowan Atkinson (brilliant stand up), Tommy Tiernan, D'Unbelievables (at their peak), Billy Connolly (older stuff), Dermot Morgan.

Karl Spain-Good once. But every show theirafter is the same. One joke man-Look at me and laugh because I'm tubby.

Most of the above are in there own way sometimes "Funny" and pander to that section of the population that sat through something like, Theres Something About Mary and laughed out loud and tought that it was "Funny"
For shame on you! How standards have dropped "Dumming Down" is the phrase i think. Dr Strange Love, The King Of Comedy, Four Rooms are "Funny" Films. Anyways when it comes down to what qualifies as a comedian all you have to do is watch or listen to the genius that was Bill Hicks. R.I.P.
Now that was a very very funny and observant comedian and if your not familiar with his body of work chech it out and compare it to the sad line up that stand up and give us the age old rubbish stories in a different format.
Also Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor to name but a few!
Real men, real lives real stories Truely funny if not sometimes disturbing.
Also i do like Bill Baileys humor and think that Dennis Leary is a loud mouth retard!

Agreed. Dave Allen was the funniest fecker *EVER*. Absolute legend.

Of the contempories, Jack Dee and Ross Noble.

At the other end of the scale, absolutely despise Brendan O'Carroll.
