    Hi all

I have a question regarding SIP to H.323 calls.

Basically I have a Blueface setup and it looks like my company is switching to a VOIP setup using the H.323 protocol.

I am trying to workout if I can call them for free using a SIP to H.323 connection.

My impression after reading this comparision (Implementation Interoperability section) is that I will not be able to do it. Any ideas out there?

Naturally I can ring the normal numbers, was just wondering if I can do it for free :)

As far as I know you wouldn't be able to do this straight from a SIP phone to a H.323 voip connection on a pbx. But you could connect up an asterisk box to both blueface, and your phone system which should be able to do all the cross talk between the protocols. I know that most pbx manufacturers are providing SIP proxy's with their newest systems which should be able to work straight to blueface or indeed another SIP extension, which is quite remarkable seen as they are usually so proprietary.

    Anyways hope this helps

    Regards

Thanks for the ideas Keith, I will look into using Asterisk setup.
