    pretty cool.

Is it possible to import the old blogs

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

Mmm the quick links hit a small snag in that I can't propagate the theme colours to the menu, so I could stick it in with a fixed set of colours but it would look crap in styles like Evil etc.

So I need to think on this some more, but I do plan to put them in...

I don't have any plans to import blogs, because WordPress has many more features than these free blogs. But that's not to say that you can't swap to Drupal if you prefer it...

BTW you can turn / off the various side blocks in your my.boards.ie settings.

There's lots of RSS things available -

There are feeds from the blogs, nodes, topics - and you can add feeds on the side - e.g. I've added Planet Boards, which you can click on a little b and add to your own blog.

    Is that what you meant?

Say I want to add a feed from bbc.co.uk for example...

Nice work, a possible new homepage!

Though I can't find any community pages :'(

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

Haven't created any community pages yet (or allowed moderators access just yet until I figure out the best structure)...

I don’t think I like it, Eh I find it slightly hard to navigate and a lot of stuff seems to be there for the sake of it. I see no reason to use it at the moment I might be wrong, hope im not been too negative will look at it again. That was my first impression.

Hmm.. not sure. I can see the Planet Boards feed there but how do I go about adding more? or can I?

Think the whole thing will take a bit of playing around with before I figure out just what's going on anyway.

its very easy to use, I never got help setting up a blog as a subscriber and I still dont know how to do it so I will use this one. One question,
on the main page where you see peoples blogs, you see thier nick then the title, mine you only see the title...is it because I am using this new blog?

Will there be a link for me to be able to go back in and add to it or will you leave that link open in the announcement for us to use?

    thanks!:)

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

I haven't allowed people to add feeds as I need to see if they show for everyone or just some...

TD: that's just due to the RSS feed from my.boards.ie being different to the planet.boards.ie one - doesn't have the name in the title...

I'm completely lost. What announcement? Where's the link for this thing? :)

Also the announcment was only for one day so the SSF one wasn't interrupted for too long

Any chance this could be placed within the Username-clickable drop-down menu?

Just looks a bit messy where it is.

[Edit: Oh I see this is changing every time I post. Don't mind me :v:

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

Yeah I might do that later (when it's been noticed enough :)).

  • Registered Users Posts: 22,231 ✭✭✭✭Sparky

Tbh it would look better under the Friends|FOAF

Unless cloud is just testing it in his templates to see where the better placement would be

    Or how about a

    Blog: Sparky_s

    under Posts.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,049 ✭✭✭Cloud

    Yep probably better there!

I'll bold it for now and unbold later...

is it just me or the my.boards.ie space very slow to load?

pings are kinda up and down between low double and treble digit pings but the webpage is very slow to load for me.

hmmm...it appears it could be PeerGuardian slowing the page...

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,924 ✭✭✭✭BuffyBot

Probably best on the drop down if you ask me

  • Registered Users Posts: 8,753 ✭✭✭qz

How about "Blog" instead of "my.b.ie Blog"?

  • Registered Users Posts: 45,594 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Seems like a cool feature. Well done to Cloud as I'm sure alot of effort went into it.
