If circumstances do not permit this, these patrons could be dispersed through the Simmonscourt Extension onto Shrewsbury Road.
The area of Shrewsbury Road, Simmonscourt Road, Merrion Road and Stillorgan Road will be kept clear to allow emergency services access to the grounds. In the event of an emergency, vehicles will enter the Simmonscourt Extension via the Shrewsbury Road Gate ‘P’. I took a look the other day, lots of work done, but lots of work still to do. They have all but restored the link, but they need to put in a final section of track and put the roadway back together and re-commission everything.
I preseume they will then complete the other two sides of the delta.

http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/ireland/2008/0906/1220629535435.htmlSpectators urged to avoid taking cars to Croke Park
OLIVIA KELLY
GARDAÍ ARE advising match-goers attending Croke Park tomorrow to take public transport where possible because of the lack of available parking spaces, traffic congestion and road closures.
Just 3,000 parking spaces will be available for the 80,000-plus spectators at the designated supervised car parks at Clonliffe College on Clonliffe Road and O’Connell School on North Richmond Street. No vehicles will be permitted to leave the car parks until the surrounding areas are free of pedestrian traffic.
A limited amount of on-street parking will be available. Gardaí have warned that illegally parked vehicles will be impounded or clamped and may be liable to a fine of €130.
The streets around the stadium will be closed to everything other than car park and local access.
From 8am tomorrow there will be road closures at the junction of the Lower Drumcondra Road andClonliffe Road, Fitzroy Avenue, Whitworth Place, Belvedere Road. The Ballybough Road will be closed at its junctions with Sackville Avenue, Foster Terrace, Clonliffe Avenue, O’Sullivan Avenue and Clonliffe Road. Gardiner Street Upper will also be closed at its junction with Sherrard Street.
Meanwhile, Dublin City Council’s long-term plans to ban match-goers from parking within two kilometres from Croke Park are set to be scrapped following more than 100 objections to the proposed bylaws.
Several TDs raised concerns about the ban, including former taoiseach Bertie Ahern who was worried that the parking restriction would stop people attending Mass.
The bylaws proposed to ban non-residents from parking near the stadium during major events such as All-Ireland games, soccer and rugby matches and concerts.
Those who flouted the ban would risk clamping, or the removal of their vehicles and have to pay a fee for their release.
The intended area stretched from the suburb of Glasnevin to Talbot Street in the city centre. Officials intend to recommend to council members that the planned ban is unworkable0 -

http://www.irishrail.ie/news_centre/news.asp?action=view&news_id=350Cork to Cobh line: improvement works, October to November 2008 by Corporate Communications
Iarnród Éireann is to undertake major works on the Cork-Cobh commuter line this October and November, to modernise station platforms and other facilities along the route.
As a result, Cork-Cobh rail services will be suspended from 3rd October 2008 to 10th November 2008 to facilitate this important work. Substitute bus services will be provided on the line during this time.
The works on the Cork-Cobh line include:
- the upgrading of 11 platforms at 6 stations along the route, which will improve accessibility of rail services for mobility-impaired customers
- laying of cable ducting for signalling, electrical and telecoms
- facilitating construction of a new overbridge at Woodhill, including a retaining wall at the approach to the bridge
- coastal defence and landslip protection works at key sites
- installation of a watermain for Cork County Council
- signalling adjustments to facilitate the reopening of the Cork-Midleton line
Iarnród Éireann apologise to customers for the inconvenience these works will cause. However, by completing these works in a short timeframe, we can ensure that a lengthy period of intermittent service disruption is avoided, and that improvements to platforms and other important infrastructure work can be delivered.
The works represent an investment of €5 million in the route, and are part of a wider package of investment in Cork’s commuter rail network.
Work is well advanced on the reopening of Glounthaune-Midleton line, which will be completed in 2009. In addition, new stations are planned at Dunkettle, Kilbarry and Blarney.
The works on the Cork-Cobh line will ensure the height levels on platforms are raised to ease access to modern commuter railcars on the route, improving accessibility for all customers, but particularly the mobility-impaired.
Details of substitute bus services for the duration of the works will be confirmed shortly.0 -
