    Weather Disrupts Bus Services
    Wednesday, January 06, 2010

Adverse weather conditions developed early this afternoon which made bus operation extremely difficult. Dublin Bus attempted to continue to operate services during the evening peak. Unfortunately operating conditions have deteriorated and in the interests of safety Dublin Bus will be unable to continue to provide a service this evening. Dublin Bus has been informed that a heavy programme of gritting is planned for tonight and therefore expects to be able to restore services tomorrow morning.

Dublinbus.ie and news bulletins will be updated as services resume tomorrow morning and our Customer Service line on 01-8734222 will be available from 07:00hrs.

Dublin Bus apologises to customers for the inconvenience caused by this service disruption.

WeatherWatch, all rail services operating: Docklands/Clonsilla trains will operate to/from Connolly by Corporate Communications

    WEATHER WATCH - 6th January, 20.00hrs

Iarnród Éireann has advised customers that all rail services are continuing to operate around the network today during the freezing conditions. Some minor delays may occur.

Rail personnel are manning strategically important locations on the network to ensure that snow is kept clear of points to ensure services operate.

In addition, to ensure the reliable operation of all City Centre to Clonsilla and Maynooth services this afternoon and evening, all services between Docklands and Clonsilla will now operate between Connolly and Clonsilla, to the scheduled timetable. This is to ensure that points can be set to a single routing, avoiding risk of any faults.

Iarnród Éireann also advises that there is very heavy demand for DART and Commuter services as a result of road conditions and bus cancellations, and rush hour levels of demand have been experienced since 3pm this afternoon.

Iarnród Éireann is accepting valid bus tickets on Dublin Bus routes affected. We would ask customers for their patience at stations and on platforms where there are large numbers of passengers. This will ensure that we can bring everyone wishing to travel home safely this evening.

Iarnród Éireann thanks customers for their cooperation with these arrangements.

    Thursday 7th January

We expect the above arrangements to continue tomorrow, Thursday 7th January. We will update this website should there be any change, and you can follow us on twitter.com/irishrail for service updates.

Dublin Airport operating normally this morning

Dublin Airport is open and operating normally today (Thursday 7th January) however passengers should contact their airline or airline websites BEFORE travelling to the airport.

Snow and ice teams worked round the clock to keep the runway, taxiways and associated apron in operation for today’s flight schedule.

There are a number of flight cancellations and delays as some airlines continue to experience knock on delays as a result of the suspension of flight operations yesterday.

Please allow plenty of time for your journey to or from Dublin Airport as road conditions are difficult in some areas.

WeatherWatch, all rail services operating: Docklands/Clonsilla trains will operate to/from Connolly by Corporate Communications

    WEATHER WATCH - UPDATE 7th January, 15.50hrs

Iarnród Éireann has advised customers that all rail services are continuing to operate around the network this morning during the freezing conditions. Some minor delays may occur.

Rail personnel are manning strategically important locations on the network to ensure that snow is kept clear of points to ensure services operate.

In addition, to ensure the reliable operation of all Clonsilla and Maynooth services today, all services to Docklands will now operate to Connolly, to the scheduled timetable. This is to ensure that points can be set to a single routing, avoiding risk of any faults.

    Heavy demand

Iarnród Éireann also advises that there is very heavy demand expected for DART and Commuter services. We would ask customers for their patience at stations and on platforms where there are large numbers of passengers.

Iarnród Éireann thanks customers for their cooperation with these arrangements.

Dublin Bus services to cease at 20.00hrs

Please note that Dublin Bus services will cease this evening at 20.00hrs (8pm) due to road conditions. From that time onwards, Iarnród Éireann will accept valid Dublin Bus tickets on rail services.

Staff effort ensuring services continuing to operate

We would also like to pay tribute to rail staff whose efforts have ensured that full services have been maintained.

Right through this spell of freezing weather, it is the hard work and dedication of our staff which has kept services operating.

From the staff clearing snow and ice from points in bitterly cold conditions, to those ensuring level crossing cameras are clear of ice, to drivers and other staff who stayed on at work yesterday evening when colleagues were delayed coming in by the conditions, to staff walking miles through snow and darkness at 5am and during the day to get to work, the commitment to ensuring our services operate is exemplary, and on behalf of our customers we are very grateful for these efforts.

    Latest service information

We will keep this webpage updated with the latest service information throughout the day. In addition, customers can follow us on twitter.com/irishrail for the latest updates.

Customers diverting to Iarnród Éireann from bus services can get the latest bus information from Bus Éireann or Dublin Bus websites.

Bus Eireann School Bus Services Update 7th Jan 2010

The majority of schools served by Bus Eireann School Bus Services have decided to close for today and tomorrow (January 8th 2010).

In instances where schools have decided to open today Bus Eireann will attempt to provide a school bus service to them, but only if it is safe to do so. Many school bus services, particularly in rural areas, operate on secondary and minor roads to facilitate pupils and their families. Given recent weather conditions many of these roads are not safe to operate on. To ensure that road conditions are properly assessed, decisions to operate school bus services on specific routes are being taken this morning by local drivers in consultation with local Bus Eireann management.

Having considered road conditions on particular routes there are a number of school bus services that will not be able to operate this morning for safety reasons.

    These include:

In Cork, services from the Ardgroom/Urhan areas will not operate into Castletownbere. Services from the Rusheen area will not operate into Coachford PP.

In Clonmel, many services will not operate to Clonmel Post Primary Centre because of bad road conditions.

No school bus services operating in Wexford, Wicklow, Kildare, Drogheda, Cavan and we are not expecting to operate services in Meath.

In Limerick, school bus services will operate on main roads only.

In Dundalk, post primary services will operate from Killsaran, Ravensdale, Blackrock, Carlingford, Duffys Cross and Louth village.

In Monaghan, services to primary schools will be to those on main roads only. Service to Corracrin NS is running.

For a list of Primary Schools which are remaining closed please visit www.rte.ie

Bus Eireann apologises for any inconvenience caused, but safety must be our main priority.

    Weather Disrupts Bus Services
    Thursday, January 07, 2010

Disruptions to bus services due to extreme weather conditions, please see below for further details.

    Thursday 7th January 2010
Dublin Bus are currently operating services on all corridors with restrictions in suburban residential and industrial estates. Difficulties are being experienced with the freezing conditions and in conjunction with the Local Authorities every effort is being made to maintain services through the afternoon and evening peak.

Due to the deteriorating conditions and in the interest of safety last departures outbound and inbound will leave at 20:00hrs on all services. Dublin Bus would encourage all customers to travel as early as possible. Both DART and Luas will honour Dublin Bus Tickets after 20:00hrs.

There are a number of areas where conditions are very poor and curtailments are in place on services currently operating, these are listed below. Please check back here regularly for further updates or phone our customer service line from 07:00hrs to 19:00hrs on 01-8734222.

    Dublin Airport operating normally today

Dublin Airport is open and operating normally today (Friday 8th January) however passengers are advised to consult airline websites or their airline directly BEFORE travelling to the airport.

Snow and ice teams worked round the clock to keep the runway, taxiways and associated apron in operation for today's flight schedule.

Please allow plenty of time for your journey to or from Dublin Airport as road conditions are difficult in some areas.

WeatherWatch, all rail services operating: Docklands/Clonsilla trains will operate to/from Connolly by Corporate Communications

    WEATHER WATCH - UPDATE 8th January, 12.30hrs

Iarnród Éireann has advised customers that all rail services are continuing to operate around the network today during the freezing conditions. Some minor delays may occur.

Rail personnel are manning strategically important locations on the network to ensure that snow is kept clear of points to ensure services operate.

In addition, to ensure the reliable operation of all Clonsilla and Maynooth services today, all services to Docklands will now operate to Connolly, to the scheduled timetable. This is to ensure that points can be set to a single routing, avoiding risk of any faults.

    Heavy demand

Iarnród Éireann also advises that there is heavy demand for DART and Commuter services at peak times. We would ask customers for their patience at stations and on platforms where there are large numbers of passengers.

Iarnród Éireann thanks customers for their cooperation with these arrangements.
