Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Athletics Ireland agrees on major reforms
    Saturday, 03 December 2005 10:23

    (From RTE)

At a special congress of Athletics Ireland in Portlaoise today 165 delegates voted to make sweeping changes to the running of the sport in Ireland.

The changes will, in essence, see the end of the present executive of the association.

The reforms have been driven by the Irish Sports Council in a bid to put the association on a more professional footing and on a par with their counterparts in other sports.

A blueprint for new structures and operations was drafted and today's congress was called to seek support for constitutional changes necessary for the plans to be implemented.

Following a debate, the motions for the constitutional amendments received the two-thirds majority support required and the changes will now go ahead.

Nick Davis, PRO for Athletics Ireland, said that he hoped the reforms will have a positive impact on the sport in Ireland.

He said: "What we now have is a well funded structure that will enable us to hire in the professional support that will match the amateur effort."
