I admit, It's not the most trendy of clics to be part of in the rock/metal scene (A scene full of Cheap beer, trendy clics and widely accepted Lesbian Love according to metal legends Pantera) but its some damn good music. Is there any1 out there who into Kyuss, Sleep, Fu Manchu, Dozer etc. ??
Of course i have some More "traditional" metal such as Pantera Thrown in to liven up the mix.

R.I.P. Dimebag, A legend in your own lifetime and a legend after.

Have you heard any of Down's stuff? Get both of their albums immediately if you haven't. That is all.

Ahhh yes indeed. I love the Obsessed, Unida, SloBurn, St Vitus, Spirit Caravan and the aforementioned Kyuss and Sleep. Even had a band of the ilk back in the day called Twin Earth, until we found there already was a Twin Earth... bastards :(

Our music was once described as glacial :v:

Sleep, St. Vitus, Bongzilla, (early) Cathedral, High on Fire, eyehategod (are they too sludge to be stoner?) and recently Electric Wizard (in a big way) - Dopethrone is one of the best CDs I've heard in a long time

eyehategod is way WAy too sludge to be proper stoner. Cathedral, St.vitus... oh yes!!!! Now that's some quality sh1t! Glad to see there are a few stoners on here.! Not forgetting the grand daddys of them all SABBATH! WIITHOUT THEM THERE WOULD PROBABLY NEVER HAVE BEEN STONER AS WE KNOW IT! Think of songs like "sweet leaf", "snowblind" and of cousre "Planet caravan". If you listen to kyuss and sleep in particular, you can see major sabbath influences. and also the sabbath song "Children of the grave" the ryhthm of a couple of kyuss songs copy this to an extent and also The kyuss sond "Freedom run" mimics "into the void". 90% of Fu Manchu songs have fiffs that sound like lost tracks by sabbath too!

Without Sabbath there would have been no Metal at all, nevermind stoner or anything else. Everybody is still drawing influence from them :)

Every day i spend at least an hour listening to kyuss/qotsa/pj harvey/fu manchu . Then i feel im ready to take on other styles of music!

Stoner rock is a bad lable for kyuss/qotsa! they aint stoner rock - just because they have flowing riffs, doenst make them stoner rock...

It is definitly a sad thing that they got tainted with that lable imo ;/

Nah Kyuss are as stoner as a very stoned thing, such as a stone.

Triggerman are f*ckin rock ACTION! :D
and I do believe they are belting out a new album as we speak...

Kyuss are definately stoner! They were a bit different from Sleep, st vitus rtc who often sounded (really good but....) a bit like a more satanic and drug oriented sabbath.
For indication of how much kyuss are stoner.. try play some of homme's solos etc when dead sober and have been off drugs for a while. fu*kin hell, its hard to imagine how he'd possibly have thought that stuff up.
stoner's not all satan this, satan that , doom, satan, heroin..etc.
It can be mellow too like Kyuss were a lot of the time. AS for the person who mentioned PJ harvey....argh! pj harvey .. that some weird/ slightly scary ****.

    to bubonicus:

I Heard Bad Boat and was greatly pleased. Do you have any info on Bad boat?

I am not very up t speed on irish stoner bands as i got into stoner in america and through the scene there. And yes, (to the guy who mentioned stonerrock.com) stonerrock.com is a really good site. Its strange for me finding many stoner fans on here as i am one of only 2 major stoner fans i know in ireland although i am converting one guy slowly:cool: .
