    Hello all,

Right, the Phantom boffins have been hard at work with microchips and buckets of internet and the first Phantom FM podcast has just gone live! All the details are at: http://www.phantomfm.com/now/podcasts.htm. If, like me, you need things explained in step by step detail, heres the information from the page:

    Quicklink:
For those in the know this is the link that you need: http://phantomfm.libsyn.com/rss

At present our only podcast is 'The Two Petes Talk Rubbish'. If you are new to podcasting, then read on!

    What is podcasting?
Podcasting is a way to 'subscribe' to Phantom FM's radio programmes and have them delivered to your personal computer. You can then transfer them to your portable digital music player. To do this, you subscribe to the podcast by downloading a small piece of software that manages all of your podcast subscriptions. When connected to the Internet, the software searches for the latest edition of the program on our website, and will download it to a folder on your computer, ready for when you next plug in your digital music player. This means that you don't have to manually search and download for new programs to download on this website. It happens automatically and it's FREE!

    What do I need?
    You will need the following...

    + An Internet connection
    + Podcasting software
+ a means of playing back the podcast (digital music player or personal computer)

Do I need an iPod or a digital music player?
No, our podcasts are in MP3 format and will play back on any digital music player or suitable equipped personal computer. Your personal computer will need to have a media player e.g. Winamp or Windows Media player and speakers/headphones to play back the podcasts.

Where can I get Podcasting software?
Most podcasting software is free and the following link contains a list of suitable software.
    http://www.podcastingnews.com/topics/Podcast_Software.html

So there you go, subscribe and get weekly podcasts from Phantom FM. Will even have music in them soon!

    Regards,

    Pete Reed

The podcast is a standard MP3 file. Even if you don't have a digital media player such as iPod or a Zen you can download and play it on your personal computer. I am sure you can burn the file onto a CD. Try it out!

    Worst.......Liars........Eever

Who? Us? Never! I remember saying to Pete, I said "Pete, isnt it great to be doing this podcast after Christmas and definitely not three days before Christmas". And he turned to me and said "Youre right there Pete, you are so right there. In fact, for ironic humour lets call the file twopetesdec22.mp3". And then I said "Wow pete, you are so post-modern, you should be writing for a Music magazine and wearing leather trousers".

    Best.....Evidence.....Eeever!

Wait I'm confused... Does this mean I should wear the leather trousers or are you being sarcastic? I always get that mixed up with post modern.

    Hello all,

The sixth Phantom FM Podcast is now available for download.

This week, it's the I-Con team back in the seat, bringing you the best in new Irish music. Tadhg Cooke is in studio to talk about his latest national tour and how life has changed for him since the relase of his debut album "Wax and Seal". Jim Carroll also joins us to talk about The Choice Music Awards, the new award for the best Irish album of 2005 and Ireland's answer to the Mercury Prize. This is encouraging, in the light of other awards that surround us. Maybe, for once, a guitar band with real people will win over Crazy Frog... we'll have to wait until February 28th to find out. All this and some great Irish tracks. Don't forget to keep sending in your demos!

    Hello all,

I-spot is a new, shorter more regular podcasts. Each week we focus in on a new and upcoming Irish band. We talk to them and let you hear some of their music. Programme duration is approximately 15 minutes. Featured so far are Mike Got Spiked and Vesta Varro.

Subscribe to this podcast series by copying & pasting this address into your podcasting program: http://phantomfm2.libsyn.com/rss/ispot

Limerick's Vesta Varro are this week's guests on I-Spot, Phantomfm.com's Irish new music showcase. Keith and Damien drop into our studios to play and talk about the release of their new single Blue Mirror Boy which launched at 33 in the Irish charts. Having gained high praise from ex-Sex Pistol Paul Cook, VV are hoping for a good year ahead of them and an album release too.
