Looking for urban bike (with hub gears)

So, I'm looking to get a new town bike, ideally light, with hub gears and narrow handlebars (for sliding twixt the rushhour traffic).

But, with all the links posted in the charter, I still can't find a hub-geared town bike with more than 3 gears (ideally I'd want 6+, Belfast's not short on hills) - any ideas where I could find one, either in the Belfast area, or that delivers to Belfast. I'd also like to try and stick within a budget of €600 (incl. accessories)

Nice - although not too fond of the pedal powered dynamo - seems like I'm doing all the work

Just took a look down in the local halfords - the Ridgeback only seems to come in sizes up to 20" - since I have 36/37" legs, that's really cutting it a bit short

Any other ideas?

According to the Ridgeback website both of those models come in a 23" size.

the shimano nexus is probably the least efficient hub gear on the market... the sram spectro s7 is a much better product - though i'm not sure what bikes you'd find it on. it also has a bigger range of gears than the nexus. sturmey archer also make a decent hub gear at the moment.

that bike also has roller brakes, which i personally would avoid. normal v-brakes or cantis can be adjusted by your local bike shop, or by yourself if you're so inclined. the roller brake doesn't require very much maintenance, but when it does, it requires special grease.

i don't suppose you fancy a moulton?!

wow, i'm looking for a hybrid too. Might pop into some of the bike shops around town and see if anything is going second hand.

While I don't doubt the truth of that, all the bikes in my price range seem to be Shimano
