    Hi all,

I have a good price on a Sharp LC-32P50E LCD TV (spec here: http://www.sharp.co.uk/Product.aspx?ID=1002).

Speaking with some people, they didn't seem to like the after warranty support/life time of the device.

I see already some people have commented that it is not actually HD ready, moreso compliant.

    What about after warranty?

    Any help would be appreciated!

    thanks

I have one mate and find it to be great.
Does not give tru HD resolution but quality is still astounding.
Have been using it for DVDs with the XBOX 360 and it's blown me away. Watched a DVD with my normal DVD player on it last night and the could not get used to the standard resolution, had to put the DVD back in the xbox.

This model is made to comply with the PAL signal so normal TV looks superb.

    hi there,

    Thanks for the reply.

What was the make of the DVD player?

I am looking at this, and price is good. But I don't want to waste my money!

Does it have a VGA input? Thats one requirement!

    thanks

Dvd player was a cheap black diamond.

    Does not have VGA.

    Has:
    scart x 2
    HDMI
    Component In

    hi Attreu,

then if it doesn't have a VGA port, I don;t think that I will be interested. Speaking to the salesperson they said yes it had a VGA port. Not seeing it in person is a big disadvantage!

    thanks

I have a good price on a Sharp LC-32P50E LCD TV

Would you mind sharing with us how much you have been offered that Sharp LCD TV for and from where?

I have been offered it for 1279 cash, is your offer much better then that?

    Hea there,

That offer is about 40/50 euro better than mine! I got this offer from a shop in Waterford.

I never reakky trust the PowerCity, DID/DIY shops. They are cheap(er) but, I dunno, I always feel that they are not going to be helpful afterwards. Might not be true, but....

I prefer to buy from a shop I have dealt with in the past. My folks deal with this shop regularly and the people there are good.

One thing tho', speaking to someone about Sharp TVs and they "suggested" Sharp hardware often have problems.

I can't comment on it, since I have not bought Sharp before.

Anyone have any ideas on that?

    €1160 (incl delivery) from ShopIreland/Amazon.

    Dang! Thats a good price!
A good €100 below my price.

And the price includes shipping too.

I have contacted the shop with the offer to see if they will match/come close to it.

I dunno tho! Let's see what happens,

After posting that, I discovered that ShopIrelandAsLongAsItsNotA32"LCDTV doesn't ship LCD's over 28" to Ireland. Don't tell the shop though but ask them if there is a bulk discount if you line up a few board-ers to buy them ;)

    Hi,

Well I just contacted the shop I am talking to and they said they will go to 950. Delivery will be via folks ;)

One final thing tho'. I need to connect a laptop with VGA output to it.

The TV has S-Video input (thanks Attreu). I am presuming yes, thatt I can connect it to the laptop, via a VGA cable, and also a VGA - S-Video adapter. I have one from a Powerbook already. (Something like this: http://tinyurl.com/9xv5w)

    Can anyone confirm this?

    cheers for all the help,
    b

    Hi David,

The shop I am talking with is in Waterford.

DID in Mountjoy Square have one, and I am going to go check it later today.

And you can't go VGA to S-Video AFAIK, but I have found a VAG-HDMI cable $30 from an online store. Don't have the URL here..when I get home I can send it if you want.

    cheers

I have just rang D.I.D. about the Sharp
37" LCD and they told me that they would only match
tv's bought in shops and not on the internet
because you have no cover or come back.

He also said i should wait till the sale that is coming up this weekend.

tv's bought in shops and not on the internet
because you have no cover or come back.

All that says to me is that they dont know enough about the warranty on their products!

Sharp will cover it here, even if its bought from the internet. I had a projector literally swopped out by sharp that a client sourced on the internet.

Ask the vendor about the warranty, dont take the retailer's word for it!

Ask the vendor about the warranty, dont take the retailer's word for it!

Main reason why I don't really trust/like buying TVs from shops without trying them out first.

I went to a "Discount TV" shop last week to try out the Sharp TV with a) S-Video cable, b) DVI-HDMI cable.

After a helpful, but slightly clueless guy tried for a while, we could still get the VGA connected via S-Video.

I went to look at another one and also the same problem. Didn't have the correct remote control.

After looking around, I found a Samsung that connected to my Powerbook perfectly in Dixon's. Connected via DVI-out HDMI in.

Helpful young guy in Dixons in Jervis Street.

So, its gonna be a Samsung LE26R41B. Has VGA, S-Video, HDMI, and SCART.

Again from the previous shop in Waterford. Slightly higher, €1099.

    cheers for the help.
