Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    BACKLASH // Optimo DJs(Kill The DJ/Sub Club, Glasgow) // Adm 10eu
In association with Carbon Records, Mezzanine floor, Urban Outfitters Ph: (01) 677 6666

As Backlash enters the Christmas season we open the first window of our advent calendar of great nights.
Thursday 08th December we welcome back Jonnie Wilkes & Keith McIvor (JG Wilkes and JD Twitch) more
often known as Glasgow's Optimo DJs

Since last our paths crossed they've been around the world several times and released the mind bending
'Pysche Out' mix cd for Eskimo Records as well as numerous re-edits and remixes. They even played at
our tent at this summers Electric Picnic festival.

Optimo's combine everything from driving techno to northern soul, New York post punk to industrial stomp.
Those who's bought the 'Kill the DJ' Mix will testify the genius is not purely the tracks the play but the way
they combine them to such effect.

While Wilkes DJs, McIvor diligently taps at a laptop computer by his side, sampling and remixing records as they
play. On one occasion, the duo hung microphones over the dancefloor, sampled Optimo's crowd singing along
to Technotronic's old rave hit 'Pump Up the Jam,' and played it back to them: the crowd ended up dancing to
    themselves!

Word spread like wildfire, across Europe and around the world. People heard stories of how employers in Glasgow
were making employees sign waivers promising not to go to Optimo on Sunday nights. Glaswegians told their
friends in London and Dublin and New York about the twisted ****ed up magic of Optimo but those who hadn’t
been couldn’t pigeonhole Optimo anymore than those who had!

But it was their recent mix cds that have given non Glaswegians just a taste of what Optimo is like.
Obscure disco sits next to industrial, the Rapture segue into screaming techno, Gang of Four are mixed with a
choir of school children singing the Beach Boys. It’s all part of the Optimo experience, which promises to be yet
another great night down at Backlash
