Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Just show how far we have fallen if you look at our pot:

The managerless Republic of Ireland will be in pot four for next month's draw for the 2008 European Championship qualifiers.

The Irish, who have not qualified for the Euro finals since 1988, will be up against it in their bid to make the '08 finals tournament which is being co-hosted by Austria and Switzerland.

UEFA have ranked the Republic alongside Bosnia-Herzegovina and Latvia, amongst others, in the fourth of seven pots for the draw which takes place in Montreux, Switzerland on January 27 next.

Austria and Switzerland are direct qualifiers for the finals as hosts, while the remaining 50 nations will be drawn into one group of eight and six groups of seven teams. The seven group winners and seven runners-up will qualify for the finals.

The UEFA system for pot ranking is based on results achieved in the qualifying competitions for Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup.

2008 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP QUALIFYING COMPETITION DRAW POTS:

Pot 1: Greece, Holland, Portugal, England, Czech Republic, France, Sweden.

Pot 2: Germany, Croatia, Italy, Turkey, Poland, Spain, Romania.

Pot 3: Serbia & Montenegro, Russia, Denmark, Norway, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Slovakia.

Pot 4: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Republic of Ireland, Belgium, Latvia, Israel, Scotland, Slovenia.

Pot 5: Hungary, Finland, Estonia, Wales, Lithuania, Albania, Iceland.

Pot 6: Georgia, FYR Macedonia, Belarus, Armenia, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Moldova.

Pot 7: Liechtenstein, Azerbaijan, Andorra, Malta, Faroe Islands, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, San Marino.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that we will get England in our group, especially considering that we will more than likely be playing some of the games in Croke Park. The GAA will just love that!

Englands anthem isn't played here when they come here for soccer (or at least it wasn't in 90 and 95).

In fairness though, there'd be no point in playing either anthem as the English fans would boo ours and the GAA wouldn't like GSTQ being played.

    I'd be hoping for:

    Greece
    Poland
    Slovakia
    Iceland
    Norn Iron
    San Marino

Easiest group I could see us getting.

I think GSTQ is played here at Rugby internationals. But then the rugger chaps here are a bit more civilised and aren't as bigoted as the GAA or yer average Irish soccer supporter.

Will the GAA object if the IRFU are ok with it being played at Croker?

I'd mind who you're calling bigots there. GAA or soccer fans are no more bigots than rugby supporters.

GSTG will be played for the rugby internationals anyway.

This news is about 3 months old by the way - RTE probably only realised it yesterday. We knew even before we played Switzerland that we would be 4th seeds.

    SWEDEN
    GERMANY
    DENMARK
    R'O'IRELAND
    FINLAND
    N'IRELAND
    FAROE ISLANDS

I reckon the only away game i would miss is in Norniron:D

there is no way the GAA would even let the english play in croker (i don't really mind) but i imagine they'll need to see fixture lists prior to renting out the stadia to FAI/IRFU
