I managed too limp into 1st place on the Fantasy share thing

Seriously, the bullbearings game is pretty poor,if I set up an American exchange game will people join.

There are no bugs on it.
You can short and long stocks.
You can trade options if you choose.
You can recieve interest and dividends(lack of dividends are a major failing
    of bullbearings IMO)
Trade prices are based on actual prices(so no impractical arbritrage oppurtunities.)

It is worth taking a look at Virtual Stock Exchange. It's run by MarketWatch (a reputable online financial news site).

You can short and leverage; you've also access to S&P and Nasdaq.

One big attraction is that you will have access to a lot more emerging market ADRs (Turkcell and IBN to name but a few).

From my experience I will try and avoid picking Irish shares as, from a personal perspective, I will never have an opportunity to learn more about US stocks if I stick to the predictables.

I've been using it for two years and it's a great introduction to US markets.

Count me in the US game. I will perservere in the BB site also: I'm up to 19th as 'maxpower'. I unluckily got hit with a profit warning days after my first investment).

Hey is there anyway we can allow trading on a margin? I need a bit more cash.

How is everyone getting on with their investments?

Is everyone taking more aggressive positions or are people building a portfolio, holding and hoping for the best?

I purposefully disallowed the margin trading option when I set up the league.
I had been "trading" on the site for a few months previously and I felt that it would be a better comparison of portfolio's if everyone was limited to the same capital.:)

I'm trying a tactic of buying a bargain or stock on a run and then sell quickly to lock in the profit. Don't think i'll hold any for long or even medium.
I've had nice profits wiped out before by holding too long.

..case in point, todays dive in the US, all recent gains gone.

Depending on how it starts on Monday i will be on the lookout for bargains.

I definitely see some value in Intel.

While a relative behemoth of the IT sector I believe its plans for WiMax could really pay off. Its collaboration with Apple can only get better.

Yet, I would not hold both Apple and Intel in my portfolio. I'd rather pluck for Apple.

Check out chipmaker Marvell (MRVL), its 1year chart pretty much tracks AAPL because it makes chips for iPOds. But the price is cheaper.
