Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i wonder what the particular level of success united actually have to sustain in the coming years for the glazers to be able to pay off that debt in time.

like, what will happen if say, united finish between 3rd and 6th over the next 5 seasons or so. what would that do to the club financially? are we likely to see a repeat of what happened at leeds?

for example, liverpool havent won the league in 15 years, but they havent had a dept of that size hanging over them, can united afford to go 5 or 10 years without the prize money that comes with a top 2 finish?

Thats a good question but I would hope that if he ran into difficulties he could always float it again to get teh moeny to pay his debt. Manchester United is a Global Brand, Leeds were not there is a difference.

The lack of objectivity of some posters would be really astounding, if I hadn't been driven away from boards football forum by the exact same airbag opinions many years ago. Yes United produced some world class players in the past, in particualr the famed Alan Hanson 'kids' were phenomonal, but to say their youth set-up is still great is beyond delusional. We know Shcoles, Neville, Giggs came through your youth teams but O'Shea, Richardson and Fletcher (the only young players regularly playing first team) would be unlikely to set the transfer market alight if they went on it tomorrow - maybe Birmingham, WBA etc would be in for them... people seem to be dressing up HAVING a youth team set-up as some sort of acheivment. Brown and Rossi are the only Academy players that seem to have further potential. Take off the blinkers. It's why United inspire such contempt from other football fans - the fact that their fans can't objectively comment on the failings of their own team.

is it possible to float a club on the market with such a debt? why would there have been such big protests if it would be so easy to just get rid of the debt like that?

and united are a global brand because they were winning, if ur winning people will buy, if not, they wont....not to the same extent anyway tbh

not asking these questions to flame btw, genuinely interested in what level of success is needed to sustain that debt

Glazier is the one that has the debt not the club. The club is still a profitable concern. The worry amoung united fans was and still is that Glazier will have to make the money to service is debt.

You are right to a degree but because of its history United have always been one of if not the most supportered clubs in the world. Even when they were winning very little they always had a hugh fanbase.

I didn't think you were flame baiting. It will be very interesting to see how things pan out.Hopefully whatever transpires will not be detrimental to the club. I would love to see the club back on the stock exchange.

Pique - Barca tried to sue after United got him because they were so outraged he got away.
McShane - In like 6 preformances for Brighton, he got 3 mom's and a goal
Jones - Playing for preston, pushed his way into the side, has scored 3 times, and Davies is desperately trying to convince United to let him stay for longer.
Spector - Is playing on semi-reguarly for Charlton in the premiership.

    These are all under 21.

    ---

There is no denying whatsoever that the youth team hasn't produced much quality since the golden generation, but the majority of united supporters who follow the youth set up very closely, are incredibly hopeful about this batch of youngsters, a hope only seen last before the golden generation were emerging.

    ---

    p.p.s

If Glazier does **** it up, and United somehow many to come 3rd to 6th for the next 5 years, which I don't think will happen :), somebody else will buy the club, because there is a huge potential there.

Our assests massively massively outweigh the debts
