Hello all, I am getting a second hand Seat Ibza 1L 1999. IT has a radio with a tape player in it. But I want to upgrade it to a radio/CD player, that can also play MP3's, CD-R and RW's. And if at all posable can read DVD's with MP3's on them. Does anyone know a good one in the €300-€350 range?

I got a pioneer one that reads, CDRW, MP3's and so on for 150 from Pixmania, Pioneer which are supposed to be the best....will look for link now. Installed myself in about an hour

Thats the one I got, it suits the inside of the VW. Not sure about reading a DVD with MP3's on it. Works perfect for me and good sound in it!

I bought a SONY CDX-MP40 and I find it great. It plays mp3 from CD-Rs and CD-RWs but not DVD (DVD ones are much steeper in price)

You can get the CDX-MP40 for £124.99stg from http://www.inest.co.uk
which is a bargain as I paid at the time £200stg from Halfrauds and that was including a discount!

Maybe it would be worth your while considering a player with DAB radio also when you upgrade your stereo e.g. http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=4124&cadid=20cfce8a84115815860b0d51b0562461

I believe your car has a half decent Grundig in it (my old '97 Ibiza did). You can get a 10CD autochanger for that for about €100 and keep it as is, or you can get yourself a cheapy MP3 player and wire it up.

If you're looking for mind bending bass, then you'll need a new head unit and some decent speakers.

If you can hold out until 22nd December, you could get a Tevion MP3 headunit in Aldi for a good price of €79.99

It plays mp3 CD's and has a USB port for pluggin in MP3 players. It also has a slot under the flipdown fascia for SD/MMC cards for more music options.

    Taken from the wee brochure:
-CD, CDR, CDRW & mp3 playback
-USB socket with 50cm cable to connect mp3 players etc.
-SD/MMC card slot for downloaded music
    -Antishock: 45sec CD, 60-120sec for mp3
    -Multi colour display
-Fold down detachable panel, flashing security LCD with panel out
    -AM/FM radio with RDS
-PLL radio with standard features and preset stations
    -4x40w RMS power out put
    -Electronic audio controls
    -RCA and ISO connectors
    -Available in Silver or silver/black
    -Carry case for fascia included

Maybe not what you want but for 80 eur, it's a good price for a mp3 headunit.

The USB/SD card reader is a fantastic idea, especially with 2GB SD cards and pen drives available. Why cant Mercedes/VW/BMW/Ford etc fit something that obvious and cheap in every car.

I think LIDL are doing a similar one either this Thursday or next week !

    This is the Lidl one

    http://www.lidl.ie/ie/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20051219.p.Radio

Sounds similar to the Aldi one but a bit more expensive at €99

Any ideas if it is worth more than the Aldi one??

Just bought a Jap import MX5 and would like to change the stereo as the Am/Fm bands are different over there, I know I need some sort of connection cable to do this, cna anyone give me more details and would one of the Aldi/Lidl stereos be a good option?

    Thanks
