What with all the DSL upgrades coming around in January, I don't suppose anyone has heard if IBB shall be following suite?

Yeh, they are planning an upgrade. My sources tell me that they are diverting away from the cans & strings and will be introducing a new technology that involves moonbeam transfers. It is expected that over the next 3 years this new state of the art technology will force all other ISP's to rethink their stragety.

Limited specs are available at present but brief details include

10 fold increase on current IBB service will result in near 56k transfers
    1000:1 contention
Automated customer service ( hahahaha )
Professional approach ( even bigger hahahahaha ):D

You need one of these 10m (33ft) mesh dishes for the new IBB service:

Laugh if you must, but despite the problems I've had, I'm dead happy with it...when it works. And, last year when all the other ISP's upped their products to 2Mbit, IBB did follow suit...

We will laugh, at you too, for accepting something that works some of the time as being OK. Also they appear to be charging some people for the upgrade, as you'll see in an other thread here. Finally, it costs them nothing to upgrade when they have limited bandwidth to share anyway. Contention/Backhaul issues (which is what they seem to be) will not go away if you up the CPE limits to 2Mb or 200Mb.

yeah well my set-up isn't exactly ideal either, bit of disruption for the ibb engineers doing the install. hope i don't have to adjust the angle...
