Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can anyone here guide me through setting up the internet step by step on this distro? I had wanted to go with ubuntu because i've heard good things but could never get it installed (troubles with cd's).

Anyway I have here my laptop, mandriva le 2005, pretty sure all drivers are on it (only unknown device is 56k modem) but need some help getting on the net. When I plug in the ethernet cable what steps do I need to take? I'm on eircoms 2mb package adn using the bog standard netopia router.

Appreciate all help again (tried to go down the linux path months ago but gave up after a while - determined to succeed now though!)

    Thanks in advance.

Have you tried poking about in the 'net/comms' (or maybe just 'internet') section of your start menu? More than likely there's software installed that will sort you out.

Should be a fairly simple process iirc. Can't help much more than that at the moment though -- working in windows atm and it's been a while since I've had to setup a net connection for a linux install.

K-menu > System > Configuration > Configure Your Computer > Network and Internet tab > Set up a new network interface > LAN connection > (select your interface) > Automatic IP.

Ensure Start At Boot is enabled, other options should normally be disabled. Click Advanced and ensure Get DNS Servers From DHCP is enabled. Give your computer a hostname on the next screen (optional), leave zeroconf blank, don't let others start the connection. After a network reset on the final screen, you should be up and running.
