Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Wireless Connection Problem

Hi, I just got a new laptop (MV Mobeus) with Intel Pro 802.11a/b/g Integrated Wireless LAN. It connects to a home network on a belkin wireless router.
The Problem is that when it connects (at about 54mbps), after about 10 or 20 minutes (without being physically moved) the connection goes down to 1mbps. When I try to reconnect it cant renew its address.
Is the wireless on my machine just screwed or can I fix this with settings?

Have you tried connecting through wires? What are you doing at the time it dis-connects?

Have u installed latest drivers and firmware for network card and router. Try changing the channel on the router.

    Hey, thanks for the suggestions.
Used the laptop on another network and it worked fine. Must be my router, changed the channel but no diff :( I dont think any particular prog or action causes this, it happens when im browsing or working or sometimes just when its idle...
Makes very little sense that I can see. I'll prob try find somethin bout belkin routers and see if theres any solution...

    grrrrrrrrstupidvbulletinatemypost

    Q's:
    - What encryption are you using?
    - Static IP addressing or DHCP?
    - Is it literally after 10, or 20 minutes? (i.e. not just loose use of English? (i.e. It's periodic, Not random.))

Try these possible solutions one at a time:

    1.
Download driver/BIOS updates from your laptop manufacturer.
& See if there's a firmware upgrade available for the router.

    2.
    Disable security(encryption) and try..

    3.
Locate and Disable power saving on laptop + router

    4.
Leave NetStumbler running on your laptop to see if there's interference.

If the issue persists, can you please specify the exact router model in your next post? Thanks.

Im using a Belkin F5D7630-4A ADSL router.
I'm now using 128 bit encryption, but only since today, the problem started before I switched encryption. I've tried not using any encryption, but no diff.
It seems fairly random when it happens, its not periodic.
    Im using DHCP.
I've read up on my router and apparently the wireless on it isnt great, I reckon its just that...
    I'll try netstumbler tonight...
    Thanks
