Cue the suggestions of "Cradle of Filth" etc...

Coldplay might be the most accesible for an 8 year old. Maybe Keane, or Maroon 5 at a push.*

8 is an impressionable age. Buy him a good classic album, like Led Zeppelin or The Beatles. He'll thank you for it years later.

i dont think i could inflict maroon 5 or Keane on him !!!

My cousin was really into Thin Lizzy when he was about 8, their music (the likes of the best of. etc) is really accessable to anyone. The Beatles are always a good idea, content is fine for an 8 year old and the music is good too.

Failing that The Mars Volta, scare the boy straight!

Don't get him some shitty new pop music. I definetly would concur with an old classic, something accessable and rockin' would steer him in the right direction :). Queen and Thin Lizzy were great examples, perhaps AC/DC, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Guns N' Roses, etc? Have fun.

I don't know what that means... but I would assume a Dustin cd would be ideal for an eight year old.

Can't go too far wrong with the Beatles or the Beach Boys, my niece loved Elvis when she was that age.

I vote for Queen very good for kids on the other side The Might be Giants did a kids album called "No" which is apparently good.
