Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How do I go about getting dial-up to work with Linux? Our connection is with Eircom but I'm open to using any other service in Ireland (is there any?).

    Cheers,
    Jaqian

Google for pppd. That's the daemon to use. Haven't used it in years :)
Once your modem is supported it's handy.

BTW, specifying the distro you use is often helpful.

Most distros will have a very simple dial-up tool.
If you can't find it, look for wvdial.
Very easy to use and almost bulletproof.

Thats good to know. What info do I need to provide so I can start dialing into the net? For example on my broadband I needed IP address, Submask etc

    What ISP are you using?
For your broadband link, your system should have been able
to autoconfigure your IP address, subnet mask etc, and it will
    do the same for dialup.
You'll need telephone number, username, and password.
Other useful details would be proxy server, email settings etc, but they are seperate to gettinthe link up.
