Everton 1 West ham 1 (weir og)

Utd should really be in frount at this stage. They are creating lots of chances, but same old story.

    Wigan are 16-1 for a 1-0 victory. Who's gunning?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,299 ✭✭✭Sandals

Ronaldo and Park on bench, Giggs the replacer general. that's odd.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I dont think UNited have created that many chances, aren't playing bad football, but not great.
Defensivly looking solid though, except when Smith is near the ball, then it looks dodgy

I was at the Everton game on Sunday and that's what it was like. Apart from the very rare flourish, the relative handful of Everton fans outshouted 60k+ United supporters.

United fans at home have never been great.
United fans away are one of the best in the world.

Great Goal By Rooney . Ferdinand was 33 to 1 to score . What a save by VDS .low down to his right.

I always planned on putting a few quid down on Rio to be first goalscorer some day, wish I put my money where my mouth was!
    Superb goal by Rooney.

The United support at Old Trafford is terrible. Most of them bring their girlfriends with them, and lets not forget the prawn sandwitches etc. Myself and my brother were at the Portsmouth game and I couldn't believe some of the people around me. We were singing away and you'd swear we had shot somebody the way everyone was looking at us.

I have been to 15+ games in the last 8 years and I can honestly tell you it has never been so bad. It is sad to see.

As for the game tonight, the game has been absolutely terrible. It just goes to show how bad the Premiership really is. Both United and Wigan are equally guilty of it. The one man on the pitch who is really standing out for his footballing ability is Rooney, he is clearly a several classes above everyone on the pitch. What a goal too. Pollitt is having a very good game. He has made some great saves, vdS isn't playing bad either.

As jesus miss of the season by rooney. from 4 yards out he skims the top of the crossbar

Ruud should have scored there too. Wigan are very poor.

    Goal by Rooney.

Jesus christ, terrible finishing from United tonight.
Ruud and Rooney have missed sitters, absolute sitters that seriously, most of the people here would put away, they've gotta start putting them away.
    Fletcher also missed a sitter.

    Rooney being a class apart?
    What game are you watching.
He was good for the goal, has been average, if not below average for the rest of the match.
The players I consider to be playing well from United is the defense and Van Nist, who is just unreal in build up play as always, just shown by the next goal there

He should have alright, but he made up for it with that pass for rooney's second and Utd's third.

    Everton 1-2 West Ham,

    Bobby Zamora.

How awful has Ronaldo been since coming on? He's given the ball away three or four times now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,589 ✭✭✭✭Necronomicon

Good win, but 2 concerning things:
    Shaky defending at times when Wigan pressed;
Poor finishing at the other end (Rooney's two sublime goals excluded)

But I won't worry about that for now, moral booster of a game, and 16 points taken from the last 18. Off to Villa on saturday, where the team has a great record.

Good preformance.... could of being 6-0 tbh. Thought Brown looked solid at the back, Then when Rio when off, owl comedy o shea in the center looked like they could sneak one in. Brought Rio into my fantasy footy team this week along with ruddy and rooney(capt) in already thats bumped me up 40 odd points :D

4 - 0 to united , Good result, Hopefully the Gunners can do the chasing pack a favour on Sunday.

As Andy Gray said , United 16 points for a possible 18 in their last six games. crisis, what crisis?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,390 ✭✭✭galwaydude

good result by Utd.Wigan are falling away now. How did o shea play then? The premiership needs a strong man utd in my view.No suprise andy gray singing their praises. He seems to have an orgasim everytime Utd play.:D

So lads will ye be shouting for liverpool in the morning when we play the costa rican champions.

Great goals by Rooney. Feel sorry for Jewell and Wigan, now in 8th place but they have Charlton at home next who aren't too great at the moment either.

Tell ya want, I thought it was a bad preformance from United.
They dominated the game which is great to see, but the finishing was woeful, and so was the creativity into the box.
If Ruud wasn't there, we coulda easily lost that game, as seen with Everton last weekend. Thing about Ruud atm though is that even though he is playing incredibly in build up, his finishing has been poor this season so far, which is funny considering he is top scorer :)

I think it's a little unfair to say Wigan are falling away...I realise that they've lost their last five games but they have been against Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U.

Having faced these teams one after another their current form underestimates their true level of ability and potential. If they can avoid a major injury crisis, i truely believe they can fnish with a very respectable top half finish.

12 goals in 15 games, let the bad finishing continue :p

    No, i'm really serious.
I think his finishing has been below standerd so far this year, I really do, and I think he does too.
Once he starts scoring like he used to, United will be terrifying.

Normal service resumed at Old Trafford. It is surprising to think that they have won five out of six in the league while people are talking about a crisis.

Was a good enough game, and it could have been a heavier defeat for Wigan if it weren't for their goalkeeping heriocs and some poor finishing.

That said, I'm sure if you offered AF 4-0 before the game that he would take it!

Just think of what has gone on in the club the past year or two...on and off the pitch. It is just so sensational for the media. I have always said it, Fergie is the best manager there is for that club.

A bit of better finishing and we could have had 8!!! If only one of the goals had gone in against Villareal or Benfica, it is gas what a bit of pox can win ya!

Rooney was excellent on the finishing, took a few nice saves from VDS to keep a clean sheet. Felt sorry for Wigan but isn't Jewel a gracious loser too, Fergie, Wenger and Morinho could learn a lesson.

    Crisis....

Good win for "us" as in United though the next time I'm in Manchester no drink. Anyway great win and I'm predicting a 6 point gap by 6 on Sunday.

Rooney was excellent on the finishing

He missed two easy chances, and missed 2 half chances

Just looking at the Van Nistlerooy "penalty". All that happened was he ran by the keeper and as he went down, kind of shifted his left leg over near the keeper. How can a professional player actually celebrate scoring a penalty after he cheated it like that? Is all the professionalism completely gone out of the game? I'm only singleing out Van Nistlrooy because it was him tonight, but how can professional players actually watch themselves doing that on tv and agree with it.

At 3-0 up he hardly needed it either. It's sad to see that there are so few honest players left in the game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,117 ✭✭✭✭MrJoeSoap

Was thinking along those lines too, but didn't a see a replay from an angle convincing enough to back my inclining up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Played for the peno and got it.
Its not cheating, its not diving, its in no way against the rules, so what are you on about?

Totally agree as I'm sure you would about Smicers behaviour at OT in the past . . . ! Terrible goin's on altogether !!

On a side note I have a feeling England could win the WC next year with Rooney in the squad, one hell of a player ! Congrats to Ferdinand, I suppose now instead of " He's never scored for United . . " we'll be hearing "He's only scored once for United . . "

I know recent results in the EPL have been good but there is still things that need to be sorted in the midfield before we can reclaim former glory and I doubt if Ballak (sp?) is the solution.

Good confidence boosting win ( said that pre-Benficka too mind you) - onwards and upwards people.

I felt that Van Nistelrooy could certainly have stayed on his feet, but didn't, therefore it may as well have been a dive imo. I'm not singling him out btw, but it is certainly sad to see that this happens in football, especially when a side is 3-0 up and cruising.
