Ok.. the number means the back to front of the chest measurement.
The letters is your handful buddy. The higher the letter, the better if you are into big un's. if you like a neat pair, drop a few letters. As far as D and DD is concerned.. + & ++ .... ?

Numbers are the circumference and cup size is the volume of each breast,I think.

It's all about 'proportionality'. A petite woman with massive boobies (real or otherwise) will have a small round-the-chest measurement, in inches, but be up in the CC/D/DD 'cup' size. And vice versa. But hey, gimme the vice over the versa any time!

Step 3: 45 - 42 = 3" difference. Cup size is C.
Result: Buy a 42C bra.

* "Slender" build: A cup
* "Average" build: B cup
* "Heavier" build: C cup

Generally yes, it is safe to say the larger the womans build the bigger the number measurement, there again cup sizes go up with weight too. although there are some exceptions, some might be top heavy naturally. I spose i might fall into that bracket.
my waist is a 10-12 but mine would be a little heavy for my build (im 5ft 4)

then of course there are the ones who've had a bit of work done

I get myself measured regularly enough. once a C, doesnt mean you will always be a C, I was going round in the wrong size until a woman in Boyers picked the bra off me and told me it was told me it was too small.

I was shocked and embaressed when she told me what I should be.
