right can someone help me out here?

tryin to buy a HDTV, went to a few places today and im a little clearer but not much!

    was lookin at this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=312582&cks=PRL

and this http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=313492&cks=PRL and even tho the latter says its "HD READY" a guy in DID told me otherwise and that the actual signal is scaled down to 540p

so does the LG one above do 720p like i need for the 360?

or can anyone recommend an lcd to buy? from internet or otherwise!

    cheers,

    Sully.

Some TV's are actually EDTV's which are a pile of crap. They both say EDTV ready, but that doesn't say much. The HDTV I'm getting, the 26 inch samsung, doesn't mention EDTV.

    Try this one. http://komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=313313&cks=PRL

supposed to be the biz.... if you didn't want to order it off Komplett.... i know Dixons / currys sell them... but they are abuot 100euro more expensive there... check www.avforums.com ppl are raving about it there!!!

    hope this helps.

The prices of HDTV's are outrageous, would you consider doing what I did and buy a widescreen PC monitor and a VGA cable for half the price?, your monitor would output HDTV quality images at half the price of buying a HDTV.

I've had my 19" widescreen Acer for about three weeks now and the quality of the images is amazing, it only costs €290 as well, sale of the century IMO. Couple that with the VGA cable and you've got a HDTV setup for your 360 for a few quid short of €300, easier on the pocket no?.

What you want to look out for when making sure its proper HD is the resolution, in the case of the sharp above, its Resolution 960 x 540, which as your sales guy told you, isnt proper HD. You want more along the lines of the LG above, which is Resolution 1366 x 768. Also be on the look out for the following ports, HDMI, DVI, VGA, in that order.

Yep thats what I did too, (not same monitor) and it worked out really well for me. I didn't want a 32" or even a 26" as it was to big for the room I had but a 19" worked out just fine and for a lot less than I thought. Ok so some people say you don't get the full advantage using a small screen but I really don't mind, LOL and no I wont be getting a 50" just to see the full benefit of 1080P when the PS3 comes out!

cheers lads, yeah i ended up in avforums as my quest went on!

between these two now and im leaning towards the samsung

    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=312082&view=detailed - LG
    http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.asp?sku=313313&cks=FRT - SAMSUNG

still dont think i need 32" for my room when ill be less than 3 meters away from the screen but then im movin out soon so will use it for my living room i suppose!! luckily these 2 versions come in 26" aswell :)

Laguna, I considered those wide screen models but while they are cheap they are too small i think

In that case I would always get a SAMSUNG befor LG. (but thats just me)

EDIT Just read this on Avforms.
" Bad news for Samsung LExxR51BD owners

Arguably the best value HDTV LCD's - the Samsung LE26R51BD and the Samsung LE32R51BD have been recalled. There are 'health and safety issues' with these sets and samsung will be contacting customers directly. If you have ordered one of these sets in the past week or it seems unlikely that you will be recieving them. Sorry for the bad news and being vague but thats as much info as i have recieved at the moment. I will update you with news as i hear it."
