So how do people think this will go?

United have a great record against Villa, unbeaten in 20, and the last 7 at Villa Park as far as I know. They are also playing well, with a fully fit side, in contrast to Villa's indifferent form. Villa also have Olaf Mellberg out, which is a huge loss. RVN has a great record against Villa.

All these things considered, I reckon United will get the three points, and continue their pursuit of Chelsea (and Liverpool ;) ), I hope so too because I'm putting a considerable amount on them at 4/6.

    1-3, Barry, RVN (2), Scholes (1).

1 0 to united at the moment. Lovely defence splitting pass by fletcher and RVN tucked it away.

cant see past united. Villa seem to have no attacking thrust

    Super finish by Rooney.

    Nice one too

Look's like there will be only a 6 point gap this evening

    Giggs should have scored there.

Indeed he should. Fergie didn't look too happy with that miss.

Giggsy not happy AT ALL about being brought off.

Good to see that we are scoring a bit more freely now. Still worried about the missed chances though. We should really have this game wrapped up by now.

Things are looking up a little now though. Hopefully Le Arse will do us a major favour tomorrow. 6 points really make things look that bit different alright.

Villa are creating some decent chances for themselves, hope I was't premature with my 6 point gap comment. United could do with another goal to kill this one.

I don't know ,I was not having a dig at you but your post did reminded that quite a few people questioned Fergies decision to buy Rooney at the time.

holy **** Ruud, why oh why did you miss that,
jesus what a goal that would have been

Very good display by the team today. RVN could have had a hatrick today. Again Rooney was outstanding. Anyone else feel that Ronaldo actually preforms better when he is brought on as a sub? In the last few games he has certainly been playing alot better when he comes off the bench.

C'mon Le Arsenal. The rest of the premiership are shouting for ye tomorrow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

Ronaldo plays better towards the end cause the teams are tired.
He isn't actually warrenting his place in the team atm based on his preformances, but they need to keep him playing to get him back to his old brilliance. He will come good in the second half of the season, and then he'll play every match. That magic at the end was just great. Ronaldinho woulda been proud.

Once again slightly disappointed with United's finishing.
Felt it shoulda been 5 or 6, and we're not putting away enough chances. What is bugging me is the chances being put away are the harder ones, and were missing the easy ones, which is good, cause it means we will score in tough games, but annoying, because we really should be putting away both!

O'Leary could be getting the p45 very soon.

I agree, Park and Giggs deserve to be first choice at the moment. Ronaldo's time will come, he has the skill in bucket loads, he just needs to get his decision making sorted and he will be fantastic .

Well done United, hopefully Arsenal can take something from Chelsea to make it worthwhile

This pic of Fletcher & RVN is a strange one

It shouldn't take him this long, I'm tired of hearing he will learn. I think ronaldinho was the same age as him during the last WC and he was already world class. I don't expect him to be as awsome as ronaldinho but after about 2 full seasons he should have learned these things already.

Thank you United, a few of us won €3000 on that. :D

    You think wrong.
He is 25 years old, and would have been 22 at the last world cup.
Ronaldo is now 20, and will be 21 by the time the world cup starts.
Considering his preformance in the Euros, I expect him to repeat the feat in the World Cup, and many others do aswell, not just United fans.

    p.s.
Did you see the match today?
He put in three excellent crosses, one which Ronaldinho woulda been proud of and would have been shown for years if Van Nist had put it away

I'm not saying I don't think he is a great player. I'm just sick of people making excuses for him that he is not old enough to expect more from him. Every thing that is wrong about his game has made very little progress since he's arrived and I think people should be expecting him to be improving now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,951 ✭✭✭✭Villain

Villa are so poor at the back, without Mellberg we have no decent center half, Laursen is injured till next season, Ridgewell is awful and young Cahill got injured after a very good display in pre-season, I can't understand why we didn't buy a center half in the summer. It's going to be a long time till May with no money to spend in January. Our Midfield can create and our strikers have the potential to be lethal but we have no back bone what so ever. Very depressing.

He has made great strides since he arrived. He was extremely hit and miss when he first arrived. He had a damn good season last season, which people seem to forget just because he's been stuttering this season, for obvious reasons (I've already debated this, don't want to go off on another rant).

Like make up your mind, first you make a ridiculous point saying Ronaldinho was the same age as him in the last world cup....Incorrect, and then you say we shouldn't be making excuses for as he is old enough. Again Incorrect. The lad is a ****ing awesome player. He has improved his game overall since he has arrived, he is still a bit flimsy though.

Having watched the United game as a United supporter I have to say Ronaldo was shocking, again.

He definitely didn't put in three good crosses, and he definitely put in at least three woeful crosses. One which might even go down as a shot on target because it pea-rolled straight into the keepers hands.

He may get the plaudits because of his flashy cross that he put in for RVN, but does anyone think that if he just tried to put it in without the tricks maybe he wouldn't have put it in a fraction too high and United would have scored? Who cares if it looked cool? United missed.

I know you have an infatuation with Ronaldinho that would put the Dunphy/Keane partnership to shame, but Ronaldinho and Ronaldo would have had only a year between them by the next world cup at the two points referenced.

The lad is not an awesome player, he is a poor player, still with no end product. My main concern if I were a United fan is that he has not improved much at all since he arrived.

The best point you can use to illustrate this is Rooney, granted he is probably one of the hottest talents in the world, but he has improved immensely since joining United.

Excuse me, I said he was about ronaldinho's age in the next world cup, there'll only be a year of a difference between the two if you look at ronaldinho in 2002.

And he did not have "a damn good" season last season. He has been consistantly hit and miss, and my point has been from the start that people need to stop making excuses for him.

One good cross against a terrible defence does not justify the level of brilliance that overly loyal fans associate with him.
I accept the fact that he is young, but with the money he is earning he should take more responsibility in, his lack of defensive contribution, his diving, his temper, along with lots of missed shots and losing the ball in his own half.

Since I put €1800 on them to win.

My loyalty has subsided since I collected my €3109. I'm such a bandwagon supporter. ;)

€1800 to win €3109 you're a brave man, but congrats anyway that's a nice win.

Did you lay any of it off on Liverpool this morning?;)

I don't bet on Liverpool, only perhaps a euro in a score and goalscorer double. I've lost too much money betting with my heart over the years!

It's the opposite with United, if I think they are going to win a match it must be a damn certainty! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,617 ✭✭✭✭PHB

I have the same problem, thats why I bet only on Spanish football, and it makes me lots of money :)

LOL , Is there such a thing as a certainty with United these days.;)
