Data downloaded 36.56 GB [39253175247 bytes]
    That probably explains it

    thats 12 gigs a month......

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,581 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

    36.5 gigs
    -24.0 gigs
    =12.5 gigs over limit

    12800 megs over limit x 0.03c per meg = 384.00

maybe they charged for going over cap?

    assuming you're on BB plus

not when you factor in a self install charge and going over your allotted data transfer limit

How much is your connection usually? is it under the promotion price of €35 a month? did u have to pay a deposit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 267 ✭✭junglecliff

35 Euro A Month Plus 50 Euro Install Was Agreed.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,987 ✭✭✭Auvers

is this your first bill? as I can see from your first post you first started using your
connection in september so maybe its a four month bill, and your install charge is double what I paid!

Since when have they started charging for exceeding caps.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,870 ✭✭✭mikeruurds

Hi there. I just got my first bill and they invoiced me for the first three months and also another two months in advance. It states in their contract that they invoice bi-monthly in advance, so you've been invoiced for 6 months here... I think.

And your broadband usage appears to be 36GB downloaded since September = 9-10GB per month and therefore not over your limit.

My first invoice was for €280, but they charged me for Talk plus without authorisation which was €50 of the charge.

best thing you can do is ring them, tell them to sort out asap or your seeking legal advice.thats what i would do,but i'm not a legal expert.

Signing with BT should carry a Government wealth warning:rolleyes:

As suggested above contact them immediately. (Did they send you any bill or post a bill on line before they debited you?)

Work out what you think you should owe them and have this ready - and tell them you want a detailed breakdown of the amount they have debited you with.

if you think your being billed unfairly, and dont get any satisfaction having contacted you vendor, give COMREG a shout:

    http://www.comreg.ie/

we were having problems with eircom for months, they were billing us for the free broadband trial. and continued to bill us after we had given the kit back (well before the end of the trial). it went on for months but was suddenly sorted out (with an apology) when we mentioned calling comreg.

certainly give the vendor the oppertunity to address the issue but if they dont listen then call in the big guns

The standard charge description is "2 months broadband" or something like that, but it's a pro-rata charge. Mine was a 5 month charge and it still said "2 months". I called customer service as soon as I got my bill to complain and managed to get things cleared up pretty quickly.
