Anyone know where to get a bottle of Jägermeister in dublin? I have tried a number of off licences and got quite strange responses.

I tried this for the first time recently. The bottle was bought in an off-licence in Santry, I think it was called Molloys.
I was wondering though, what the hell should this stuff be mixed with?

Mix it with 1 part Jägermeister and 2 parts Jägermeister, I find it goes down very smoothly like this :D

Indeed. You shouldn't mix it with anything. Lovely drink.

Half a glass of Red Bull, shot glass of jagermeister. Hold shot glass over glass of Red Bull, and let go of the shotglass. Drink VERY quickly. Beautiful!

Jager can be bought in most decent offlicenses, I've found it in Dunnes in Blanchardstown & Georges St., the Comet in Santry, and that one in Ranelagh. I also had a German tennant for a week who paid his rent in Jagermesiter.

It's a fine beverage - not to be mixed, and not to be consumed in horrible excess. However, mixing a Jager with a pint of beer is called a Jagerbomb, so called because it tends to leave you in many pieces...

I've seen it in most off-licences, and a lot of Tescos / Dunnes too.
It's a pretty distinct bottle and hard to miss.

Has a lovely aniseed taste and is one to waken up the senses!

the off license beside the swiss cottage should have jagermeister.

what strange responses did you get btw?

Keep your bottle of master of the hunt nice and cold like a bottle of champagne in a bucket of ice. I've never mixed it with anything tbh, just knock it back in shot form. Used to buy 100ml bottles in the kiosks in Cologne and sneak them into the pub to sip from ;)

If anyone's looking for a mixer, I suggest mixing it half and half with lime, on ice. It's great.

    1/4 oz Goldschlager cinnamon schnapps
    1/4 oz butterscotch schnapps
    1/4 oz Bailey's
    1/4 oz Jagermeister

Shake all ingredients in a cocktail shaker half-filled with ice cubes. Strain into a shot glass, and serve.

Had this before and it's yum yum...

I also believe that Lidl sell their version, can't think of the name but it comes in the same type of bottle

Are these actual off-licences? I have never seen a offy without a german beer, and almost every offy I have been in has Jager. You can get fake stuff in germany, tastes the same but 1/2 price, aldi/lidl might do fake stuff, it is a reasonable drink, but ususally overpriced.

This stuff needs to be kept in the back of your Freezer with your Vodka remember back in the Bad Ole Days when I used to drink far more then that which was Healthy or Sensible. I drank in the space of 15 minutes 1 bottle of Jagermister, if the following hour I drank 1 shoulder of Vodka, and then went out. I was fine until I hit a night club. I remember the next day waking up with no shoes in a strange house and my wallet e100 lighter. To this day I can notlook at a bottle of Jagermister without feeling sick.

Jager on it's own is lovely...

Try it with orange juice too... tastes great

drink it with red bull as suggested, or with coke...

    or try a Jagerbomb/Liquid Viagra:
    - pour half a can of red bull into a glass
    - have a shot of jagermeister ready in a small disposable plastic shot glass
    - drop the shot glass of jager into the red bull (not upside-down mind, right way up!)
    - chug back the whole thing in one
    - enjoy! it's quite tasty! :D

jagermeister also comprises one of the main component in a Liquid Cocaine shot...

Have to say, there's been some very clever marketing done here..
Particularly to the metal scene where it's nearly considered to be the 'official' drink! New up and coming bands like Sylosis are often sponsored byJäger.
Massive introduction to pubs and clubs here also helped..
It's funny, because when I visited Germany during the summer, quite a few people said that over there it's considered to be an old mans drink!
The taste also helps them though... Very good!:D

Does anyone know for sure if aldi/lidl stock fake versions of this drink, and if so what they're called?

    Cheers!

Don't know if Lidl or Aldi see it but you could try Schwartzhog which is not exactly the same but is fairly similar and has a similar bottle. Can be found in some Tesco's apparently.

I remember skiing in Andorra about 14 years ago. My stomach was shagged towards the end of the week and the barman recommended I drink it. It was my first time seeing it, and drinking it. My stomach hadn't improved the following day though!
