Rear Window Demister DIY Repair

My demister has stopped working recently, on close inspection I can see a couple of cracks in the lines presumably breaking the electrical circuit.
How these semmingly developed all by themselves is a mystery to me.

Looking online I see that there are kits for repairing this, anyone ever done it and if so was it a difficult job and was it obvious that it was a DIY job ?

Its a simple job but hard to make it 'invisible' again. You need a steady hand and plenty of room to work. Get a voltmeter and check for 12v on the contacts either side of the window to make sure it is the actual elements and not just the relay or fuse which has failed. It is unusual for all of them to go - most often just two or three lines go.

There used to be a type of glue available before that would carry current and you could put it on over the brake on the wire and it would work again.
